Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we join the global community in raising awareness, challenging stigmas, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

At Arden Courts, our commitment goes beyond providing a safe space, it’s about honoring the person behind the diagnosis every single day. Through purpose-built environments, specialized programming, and a deep understanding of memory loss, our incredible teams strive to enhance quality of life, foster meaningful moments, and support families navigating this journey.

While there is still work to be done in research and advocacy, today is a reminder of the power of education, compassion, and community.

National Assisted Living Week is here, and as a team exclusively dedicated to memory care, we are taking this opportunity to clear up some of the biggest misconceptions in our field. First, let's discuss when to make the move:
Myth: Specialized memory care should only be considered in the very late stages of dementia.

Fact: Moving earlier allows residents to build routines, form bonds, and thrive while actively engaging in programming.

Waiting for a crisis often makes transitioning harder for everyone. Entering a supportive memory care environment in early to moderate stages lets individuals adapt comfortably, build strong relationships with caregivers, and maximize their cognitive and social well-being.

When people hear "memory care," or "assisted living" they often picture quiet hallways and closed doors. But if you walk into Arden Courts on any given Tuesday, you’re much more likely to hear music, shared laughter, and the hum of connection.

A common misconception is that a move to memory care means an end to independence and routine. In reality, it is often a new beginning. By wrapping a secure, purpose-built environment around our residents, and taking care of the daily stressors like cooking, cleaning, and safety oversight, we actually help them regain a sense of freedom. Instead of struggling with daily frustrations, they find space to focus on what still brings them joy: familiar habits, sensory moments, and engaging activities tailored to where they are right now.

National Assisted Living Week is a wonderful reminder to look past the stigmas and celebrate what specialized community living is truly about: supporting dignity, fostering purposeful days, and honoring the individual.

Every day is a good day for cake. But, today, our cake was in celebration of a valued member of our team. Frank has officially retired. Frank not only kept our community in tip top shape, he brightened the days of so many residents through his humor and genuine affection. While we already miss him, we wish him well. Frank- we hope you get to spend untold hours fly fishing. And, if MaryAnn needs a break, we will happily welcome you with open arms.

It is a beautiful day to have lunch outside. Chefs Craig and Pablo prepared a delicious meal for today’s family and friends lunch. One of our guests and Senior Director of Nursing, Holly, were perfectly matched.

Everyone at Arden Courts Avon is sad to see Culinary Manager, Morris, leave but we are happy for his next chapter. Morris has officially handed the spatula over to incoming Culinary Manager, Craig. Morris, Craig and Pablo outdid themselves today for Morris’s last resident/family/friends/team member barbecue. Southern fried chicken, hamburgers, dirty rice, collard greens and corn were on the menu. Followed by petit-fours and a New Orleans tradition, Doberge Cake. But what Morris did not know was that Executive Director, Kim, had baked his favorite of her desserts, sweet potato pie. To our residents’ delight, our favorite dinosaurs stopped to wish Morris well. Thank you Morris for all you did for the residents, families and team members during your time at Arden Courts. You will be missed. Craig-we are so happy to have you on the team.🍗 🥬 🍚 🌽 🍰 🥧

Chef Craig prepared a wonderful meal for our weekly cookout. Mother Nature cooperated today so we were able to dine outside while enjoying the beautiful weather. 🍔 🍉

Our spring fling was a great success! We had live music with Jim Harkins and a special visit from Brookes Bunny Farm to spread some joy to our residents and celebrate the spring season!🐰💐💕
