Foot pain during activity? Don’t ignore what your foot is telling you.

Many sports and everyday activities require repeated bending through the forefoot and toes. When you’re recovering from injuries such as turf toe, a midfoot sprain, stress fracture, or toe fracture, that movement may need additional support.

A carbon fiber insert can help limit excessive motion and provide added support inside the shoe as part of a physician-directed recovery plan.

The goal? Support the foot while helping you work toward getting back to the activities you enjoy.

Always talk with your healthcare provider about the right level of support for your injury.

Turf Toe Recovery: When a Carbon Fiber Insert May Help 👣

Turf toe may sound like a minor injury, but because your big toe is involved in almost every step you take, it can make walking, running, and returning to sports surprisingly difficult.

As your injury heals, your foot may still need added support before you're ready to return to normal activities.

A carbon fiber insert fits inside your shoe and helps reduce excessive bending of the forefoot and big toe. By limiting motion where it's needed most, it may help reduce stress on the healing joint while allowing you to wear regular footwear.

A carbon fiber insert may be worth discussing with your healthcare provider if you are:
✔️ Recovering from a diagnosed turf toe injury
✔️ Transitioning out of a walking boot
✔️ Still experiencing discomfort during push-off
✔️ Returning gradually to work, exercise, or sports
✔️ Looking for added support without full immobilization

Recovery doesn't always happen overnight. Many people need a gradual transition between a walking boot and regular shoes. A carbon fiber insert can help provide that extra level of support during the recovery process.

Important: RTP Carbon Fiber Inserts are not intended to diagnose or treat turf toe. If you're experiencing pain, swelling, bruising, or difficulty walking, consult a physician or qualified healthcare provider for evaluation and treatment.

At Return To Play, our carbon fiber inserts are designed to provide added support when your foot is ready to move forward but still needs protection.

Not every foot needs the same level of support.

RTP Carbon Fiber Inserts come in three support levels, so athletes and active people can choose the option that best fits their support needs.

Semi-Rigid — flexible support for active individuals who need added foot support. Often used for turf toe, mid-foot sprains, stress fractures, toe fractures, and transition from rigid to semi-rigid support.

Rigid — more support when the foot needs more stability. Often used for more acute injuries, including Lis Franc injuries, metatarsal fractures, acute turf toe, and transition from walking boot to shoe.

Arthritic/Post-Op — very minimal flex for situations where the foot needs maximum protection, including mid-foot arthritis and post-op care.

When a 5-time Wasatch 100 champion says he’s trusted RTP for more than a decade, we listen.

Dana “MudNGuts” Miller first used RTP inserts during 100-mile trail races for the rock protection his lightweight shoes lacked. Later, they helped limit shoe flex when big toe pain became a problem. Today, he still recommends RTP to runners dealing with big toe and arch pain.

Thank you, Dana, for the trust, the feedback, and the miles.
