Good girls follow the rules. What if instead of that, women were encouraged to follow their curiosity?
I’ve been thinking about adventure since my trip to France.
The beautiful streets. The architecture. The vineyards. The experience of being somewhere different and having so much to discover.
And I’ve been thinking about how many women have been taught to be careful, practical, accommodating, and responsible before we’re ever encouraged to be adventurous.
We’re taught to consider everyone else’s needs.
To make the sensible choice.
To stay where we’re needed.
To be good.
And somewhere in all of that, we can lose touch with our own curiosity.
What do I want to see?
Where do I want to go?
What would I try if I weren’t so worried about doing the right thing?
One of the things I love about unlearning Cultural conditioning and patriarchy is that it opens up possibilities.
We get to question the rules we’ve inherited.
We get to explore who we are beyond what we’ve been taught to be.
And we get to have adventures simply because we want to.
France was a beautiful adventure. And a reminder that there’s still so much of this world I want to experience.
Here’s to women who keep getting curious about what’s possible. ❤️
What’s an adventure you’ve been dreaming about? Big or small, I want to hear it.
