🌿🤎 FROM ADVOCACY TO BIRTH WORK — IT’S ALL CONNECTED. 🤎🌿

As many of you know, I’m not just a doula. I’m also an advocate—and I’ve been doing this work for 16 years. ✊🏽❤️

Today, I had the honor of joining in the celebration marking the beginning of the campaign process for Senator Melissa Hurtado, and I was grateful to be part of a beautiful gathering filled with prayer, hope, community, and powerful energy. 🙏🏽✨

I also had the opportunity to support our future Governor of California for Xavier Becerra 🙏🏽🌿

Today reminded me once again why I do the work that I do.

My advocacy and my doula work may look like two different paths, but to me, they are part of the same circle. ⭕️🌎

🤰🏽 Supporting mothers during pregnancy
🍼 Supporting families during postpartum
🧠 Advocating for maternal mental health
❤️ Fighting for healthier outcomes for moms and babies
👶🏽 Making sure our children have a voice
🌿 Honoring the sacredness of motherhood, pregnancy, and family
✊🏽 And advocating for the communities we call home

Halito, relatives. 🤎🌿

Our families matter. Our mothers matter. Our babies matter. Our communities matter.

When we support a mother, we support a baby.
When we support a family, we strengthen a community.
And when we advocate for our community, we help create a better future for the generations coming after us. 🌎👣❤️

I am deeply grateful to be a Californian, grateful for the journey God has placed me on, and grateful for the wisdom and strength I carry from my ancestors. 🙏🏽🌿💙💙💙💙

THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM. ✨
And baby… this time feels DIFFERENT. 🥹🙌🏽🌿

They say the number 3️⃣ represents blessing, growth, completion, and new beginnings—and honestly, I can feel that in this season of my life. 🤎✨

This year has been a whole ROLLER COASTER 🎢 getting through my doula training, navigating different personalities, different experiences, and some situations I never expected along the way.

But through it all, God was working behind the scenes. 🙏🏽

I truly believe He led me to the education and support I needed at the right time. 🌿

This time, I found:
✨ Education
✨ Professionalism
✨ Support
✨ Correct & educated answers
✨ No unnecessary drama
✨ A team that actually supports me
✨ And continued support for the next year! 🥹🤎

Sometimes what feels like a setback is really God saying, “Not that way… THIS way.” 🙌🏽

And now I’m walking into this next chapter with a grateful heart, a stronger foundation, and so much excitement for what’s ahead. 🌱✨

The third time really IS the charm. 3️⃣💫

I’m so grateful for this blessing and for everyone who has helped me get here.

Now… let’s see what God has planned for Ishki Yakni Doula. 👀🌿🤎

🌿 Pregnant in Kern County? You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone. 🤰🏽💛

Here in Kern County, we know there is a shortage of OB/GYN providers, which can make getting that first prenatal appointment difficult—especially when many moms are trying to be seen before 12 weeks.

Some moms may find themselves being referred to places like OMNI, Clinica Sierra Vista, or Sagebrush for prenatal care. I understand that this may not be the care setting every mom envisioned, and navigating the system can feel overwhelming.

This is where a doula can come in. 🌿🤎

A doula does not replace your OB/GYN, midwife, or medical team. We provide emotional, informational, and physical support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I can help you understand your options, prepare questions for your appointments, advocate for yourself, connect you with community resources, and help you feel more confident as you navigate pregnancy in our community.

You deserve to feel heard, supported, informed, and respected. ❤️
