Happy Labor Day! Our offices and member services department will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.👩‍💼👨‍💼🏢

If you have questions regarding eligibility, benefits or authorizations, need support changing your primary care provider, or other general inquiries, please login to the member portal at kernfamilyhealthcare.com. You can also contact our Member Services Department during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., except on holidays.

EXCEPTIONS: Please call our main line at 1-800-391-2000, TTY 711, for the following available services:

➡️ 24 Hour Advice Nurse Line: If you have an immediate medical problem or would like access to the Health Information Library, press 2. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

➡️ Transportation: If you or a family member need a ride to a medical appointment, please press 3 for our transportation department.

EXTERN SPOTLIGHT: Joslyn Gallegoz — Highland High School

Meet Joslyn, an incoming senior at Highland High School and a part of the 2026 cohort of the KFHC Summer Externship Program.

As an extern, Joslyn says her experience in Enhanced Care Management helped her grow both personally and professionally. One of her biggest takeaways was building confidence in her communication skills. "Whether it was speaking amongst other externs, supervisors, members over the phone, or executives, I’ve managed to establish confidence speaking in any setting I find myself in," she says.

After high school, Joslyn plans to pursue a career in nursing. She hopes to earn her BSN, work as a registered nurse, and eventually explore becoming a CRNA or Nurse Practitioner.

"Overall, I'm incredibly grateful for this experience, I truly have learned how to be a better person professionally and individually," Joslyn shares. She hopes to return next summer and maybe one day build a career with Kern Family Health Care. We wish Joslyn continued growth and success as she pursues her future in health care.

EXTERN SPOTLIGHT: Andrea Martinez Membrila — University of California, Irvine

Meet Andrea, an incoming freshman at the University of California, Irvine and an extern in the 2026 Kern Family Health Care Summer Externship Program.

This summer, Andrea gained valuable insight into the administrative side of health care. As part of the Delegation Oversight team, she supported the Medicare process for members and visited clinics across Kern County, giving her the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and see how quality care is delivered behind the scenes.

"My biggest takeaway from this experience is that paying attention to detail is essential because it can affect the accuracy of a member's information and the quality of support they receive," Andrea says.

As a Nursing Science major, Andrea looks forward to applying the skills and knowledge she gained this summer throughout her education and future career in health care.
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and all those I met along the way," she shares.

We are excited to see where Andrea’s passion for health care takes her and her future accomplishments.
