Three patients in two days. All over 65. All with implants in for 20+ years. What we found inside was a wake-up call.

One patient had saline implants for 27 years and developed a thick, calcified capsule around the implant. Another came in thinking she had saline. We found ruptured silicone that had likely been leaking into her body for years, undetected despite regular mammograms.

This is a reminder: Your implants have an expiration date.
Saline implants should be exchanged at 20 years. Silicone at 10, and the FDA recommends MRI screening at 5 and 10 years. At the 20-year mark, 90% of silicone implants have already ruptured.

Always learning, always evolving. ✨

Dr. Brandow recently had the opportunity to speak at an incredible event organized by Cookie Sanchez, a concierge nurse specializing in post-op cosmetic surgery care and lymphatic drainage support. The event brought together a collaborative group of experts, including specialists in nutrition, holistic medicine, fitness and recovery, all focused on helping patients look and feel their best.

Dr. Brandow shared a lecture reflecting on 35 years in cosmetic surgery and the evolution of both surgical and non-surgical techniques over the decades. As someone who has consistently stayed at the forefront of innovation, it was a unique opportunity to look back at how far the field has come and where it’s headed next.
