Making Marketing Ethical, Also Book Marks!
Embody Healing, LLC was originally founded in 2015. Back then, scientists were observing harmful neurological changes in the broader community related to ads. Based on the studies, we decided it was unethical to promote health and healing and also doing promotional ads. Instead, Embody Healing, LLC focused on community education. We published magazines, did free public workshops, and printed very many articles helping people become healthier while also establishing our practitioners as experts. Since most of the people on our email list come from this time period, you might remember this yourself. We continued this approach up until the present time.
The world is different now. The issues we were seeing have been accelerated by the use of memes, and ads simply aren't as much of a concern as they were. Still, we know they are harmful, so we're always looking to better share without harm. We're a community first business, not a profit first business. We always have been. Unfortunately, this has sometimes made it very hard to be visible and to find the people in need of our services.
Something we're trying this year is distributing bookmarks with promotional material on the back. Specifically, we want to encourage role models with the quotes we use, especially for marginalized groups.
These were our first book marks, which absolutely flew off the shelf.
We were completely unprepared for how popular this would be. We ordered 500 bookmarks of the first run and put them in our sponsored little free library on Tilbury and Nicholson. We thought that would be enough for about three months. They were gone in less than one!
So, we're on our second run. Our community likes this, and we like it too. We've decided to network with others in the community to distribute them. Everyone wins!
Our second run! We planned for 500 a month this time.
So, if stopping by the little free library is too out of the way, no worries! You can also pick up a free book mark at:
~Riverstone Books, Forbes Ave.
~Amazing Books and Records, Forbes Ave.
~Dobra Tea, Murray Ave. (Pinned to the Community boards)
~Mental Health Specialists, LLC, Murray Ave.
~Gestalt Institute, Murray Ave.
We're all having great fun with this. People are enjoying getting them, and we're enjoying giving them. It's also giving David a chance to gush over some of their role models growing up, like the abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Each of the people we're picking David has a story about how connecting that person's real life triumphs to someone in need led to positive changes in that person's life, but we also know we'll run out of book quotes soon, so we need your help.
Would you write us at [email protected] and tell us who we should include next? Who inspired you to be a better person growing up? What authors or role models did you look up to?
Also, if you have a little free library yourself, we're happy to mail you a small stack if you want some! Margaret Fuller's run is almost gone already, but we're happy to put you on the list for the next batch.
What's on the back of the bookmarks this month? We're featuring our upcoming cacao, labyrinth, and drumming events! The next one is August 22 and we still have a few spaces left. These are really special events you don't want to miss. Register or get more information here: https://www.embody-healing.com/upcoming-events
