Self-care has somehow become synonymous with bubble baths, expensive skincare, and pretending a candle can fix chronic overwhelm.
And listen, I love a good candle. But sometimes self-care looks a lot less cute.
It’s eating lunch before you’re absolutely feral.
Going to bed instead of scrolling for another hour.
Saying no to something you never wanted to do in the first place.
Doing a 10-minute workout instead of skipping it because you don’t have 45.
Making tomorrow slightly easier.
Resting before you’ve “earned” it.
Self-care isn’t always adding something else to your routine. Sometimes it’s figuring out what’s making life harder than it needs to be and doing something about that.
So instead of asking, “What should I be doing for self-care?”
Try: What would make today 10% more manageable?
Do that.
