On April 5th 2017 our world was forever changed when we found out that our son Jake had Type 1 Diabetes. When you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, administer insulin, and carefully balance these insulin doses with your eating and activity just to stay alive. With T1D there
are no days off and there is no cure, but there is hope. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is leading the way in finding a cure for this disease and we wanted to take part in helping them raise money to further their research. Jake's Heroes has raised over $13,000, over the years by hosting and teaming up with other groups to fund raise, most recently at our Diabetes Awareness Nights with the Adirondack Thunder. By donating or joining our JDRF One Walk® team today, you’ll support research for life-changing breakthroughs to make it safer and easier to live with T1D, until we find a cure. Help us make Type 1 become Type None!
