What a remarkable day. Man Alive honored the retirement of one of our treasures, Gilda Dorsey.
She joined our team 26 years ago with a Masters in Education and wisdom beyond her years. There were so many accolades spoken about her....but the one constant was her gentle voice turned a bit louder as she fought for "the best for her clients."
Her beautiful smile, wondrous giggle and big heart will leave a void at the clinic.
Happy Retirement Ms. Gilda....we are all waiting to see what impact you will make in your next chapter ❤️

We are thrilled to welcome Makya to our counseling team.  She is multitalented in her professional degree along with dance and yoga. She compliments the existing staff and  is eager to share and learn from our clientele.

Yesterday, Man alive celebrated a milestone that reminds us why we do this work.
We witnessed the graduation of two remarkable women, Nayaree and Regina, whose commitment, courage and perseverance brought them to graduation from our intensive outpatient program.
We were honored to welcome our keynote speaker councilman Paris Gray of Baltimore's eighth district. He is a tireless advocate for the city of Baltimore, and he is the son of Regina.
Family members, friends, fellow clients, and staff gathered to celebrate this meaningful occasion.  Councilman Gray spoke reverently about the path of recovery, the courage of the graduates, the families who support them and all who stand by their sides.
To Nayaree and Regina, thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.

Not your typical classroom experience. I had the pleasure of welcoming two Morgan State University social work students into the clinic.  Needless to say it was the power of the words of the three clients they spoke with that made a lasting impression. I'm committed to embracing our future leaders.

Hats off to our client who reported saving a life with his Narcan kit, client described seeing someone down at the corner of Penn and North and seeing people walking past not responding he took action and called 911, administered Narcan, and witnessed an effective response. Client waited with the individual to be assessed and taken to the emergency department. Client exchanged numbers with the individual and reports the individual has now started treatment.

This week's book club had an in-depth discussion about this beautifully written book. We believe we have found a hidden gem in holding this book club with our clients. They are voracious readers with a twist of common sense and high emotional intelligence to share profound messages.

Years ago, Man Alive & Recycled Love collaborated to enter the Human Society of America contest to expose dogfighting. We received Honorable Mention. This came up as a memory. It will be shared in hope new eyes may view it and become an agent of change

Today's book club generated a lively discussion....racism in the 1950's which still exists, home being more than a physical place, bonds between sister and brother, identity of masculinity, trauma, community, survival and forgiveness.
This is our second book club meeting, and we feel we have found our "HOME"
