Yesterday was the 1 anniversary of Joshie's passing. It was so full of love, joy, and gratitude. Today, I'm just resting, because I'm so drained. Balancing Children's Veg Fest and debilitating grief was a marathon over the past year. Planning these joyous events help keep me tethered and grounded. So, I'mma go have some dairy free Ben & Jerry's for dinner and watch an uplifting movie! Sunflower Mamas

Today is the 1st Anniversary of you becoming an ancestor. Life has been a challenge without you, but I'm proud of myself, because I made it through. I promise to keep going. To keep bringing light. To keep dancing. To make sure that your story continues to be told. My shining star... my son. Joshua..Mootie-cha-cha.. my fat uncle... I love you to the moon and back. Give lil' Jordan a hug from her auntie. 💙🦋💜

Today was magical! I hosted Virtual Children's Veg Fest from 11 AM to 4 PM today. I feel so energized and fulfilled. It's a true testament to listening to God. When I started planning this, I was only 3 months into my grief journey. There were times when I wanted to quit, but I kept going. I'm so glad that I did. This whole weekend was magical. I'm truly grateful!

🌱💛 What a beautiful day at Children’s Veg Fest!

Today was filled with so much joy, movement, creativity, good food, laughter, learning, and community. From cooking and wellness activities to hula hooping, arts and crafts, vendors, music, dancing, and all the little moments in between, it was amazing to see families come together and simply have fun.

One of the things I love most about Children’s Veg Fest is that it gives kids a chance to experience plant based living in a way that feels exciting, welcoming, and accessible. We are planting seeds, literally and figuratively, and giving children opportunities to explore healthier choices while making beautiful memories with their families. 🌻

I am incredibly grateful to every presenter, vendor, sponsor, product donor, volunteer, parent, caregiver, and child who helped bring today to life. And a special thank you to my friend and co creator Naijha and the Black Veg Society family for continuing to build this vision with me.

Today was also deeply personal for me. Being back at Children’s Veg Fest this year carried a lot of emotions, and there were moments that were both joyful and challenging. I am grateful for every hug, every smile, every person who checked on me, and every moment of light. 💛

And we are not finished yet!

💻 Tomorrow we take Children’s Veg Fest ONLINE for our FREE Virtual Children’s Veg Fest, with cooking, movement, wellness, education, and family fun you can enjoy right from home.

Thank you, Baltimore. Today was beautiful. 🌱💛

I want to personally invite you to spend some time with Sunflower Mamas at Children's Veg Fest

Erika Blair and I created Sunflower Mamas after both of our lives changed in ways no mother ever wants to understand. After my son Joshua transitioned, and after Erika’s daughter Kamara transitioned, we found ourselves walking through a kind of grief that can feel impossible to explain unless you have lived it.

Sunflower Mamas was born from that place. Not because we had all the answers, but because we knew mothers should not have to carry this kind of pain alone. We wanted to create a space where our children could still be spoken of with love, where grief could be honored without shame, and where we could gently remind each other that healing does not mean forgetting.

At Children’s Veg Fest, we will be making sunflower pens as a simple, creative way to connect, remember, and turn toward a little light together. There will also be chair massage, family meditation, plant based food, music, movement, and activities for the whole family.

This is not about pretending everything is okay. It is about creating moments of softness, beauty, and community in the middle of real life. We would love for you to come sit with us, create with us, breathe with us, and know that you are welcome just as you are.

See you there!
