Selected from 324 proposals, Dr. Beeber and her team were awarded $150,000 to advance their project, Integrating Health Economics and Partner Engagement to Understand Medicare Home Health Use in Assisted Living.

As our population ages, research like this plays an important role in helping older adults live healthier, safer, and more supported lives.

Sarah's research explores the role of participation in meaningful activities and caregiver support among family and other unpaid caregivers of older adults living with dementia, an area of study with important implications for individuals, families, and communities.

Her work exemplifies nursing's commitment to advancing understanding, championing vulnerable populations, and improving care through evidence and innovation.

ICYMI: Last week, Dr. Melissa Hladek participated as a panelist in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Health Dialogue Series on Capitol Hill.

The discussion focused on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic disease and chronic disease in Latino communities, while exploring broader issues that influence health and well-being, including prevention, treatment, research, workforce development, social determinants of health, and climate.

The CHCI Health Dialogue Series brings together policymakers, health experts, advocates, and industry leaders to engage in evidence-based, solutions-focused conversations on some of the nation's most pressing health challenges.

We are proud to see members of our faculty contributing their expertise to important discussions that help inform policy, practice, and the future of healthcare.

Congratulations to Drs. Kimberly McIltrot and Erin Spaulding, along with alumna Anna Yoo Chang, on receiving the 2025 Clinical Manuscript Award from the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (JWOCN).

Presented at the WOCN Society's annual conference, this national recognition honors outstanding clinical scholarship that advances nursing practice and improves patient care.

This achievement highlights the power of collaboration between faculty and alumni and reflects the real-world impact of nursing research on the health of individuals and communities.

For alumna Pam Babij, Nurs ’94, supporting future nurses is personal.

Through the White Coat Campaign, incoming Entry into Nursing students receive more than a white coat. They step into a community that believes in them from day one.

“When a student puts on the white coat and recites the School of Nursing pledge, the community coalesces to begin their common journey,” Pam shares.

Nearly 100 donors have already joined this effort, and Pam is now adding an additional $1,000 when we reach 2 more donors.

The American Heart Association-funded THRIVE Food is Medicine pilot trial demonstrated strong promise in addressing hypertension through produce prescriptions. Participants in the intervention arm with high adherence to the DASH diet experienced an average systolic blood pressure reduction of 13 mmHg, a clinically meaningful improvement.

The study highlights the potential of combining access to fresh produce with tailored dietary support to help improve cardiovascular health outcomes among adults with uncontrolled hypertension.
