Six years ago today I had to undergo a double mastectomy 😭. These memories are hard.

I hate remembering that the only way to get the tumors out was to amputate a part of my body. A reminder, not just in memories, but every time I look at myself in the mirror.

Surgery….chemo….9 more surgeries I never knew I would have to face… so many health issues.

So many things I would have to let go of 💔

I had to close the gym and say goodbye to a life I had worked so hard to build. So many pieces of my old life that I never got back. A woman and a life I still grieve 😭

BUT YET…look at what was born from all of it.

A marriage that is stronger than ever. Children, family and friends who have carried me, loved me, and stood beside me. A strength I didn’t know I had. An amazing nonprofit that was born from my own cancer journey so I could turn my pain into purpose and help other fighters feel a little less alone.

Six years later, I still cry, still hate the scars and still mourn what cancer took from me and brought on, but I can also be incredibly grateful for what it gave me. Purpose, strength, a deeper appreciation for the people I love.

And most importantly…

I’M HERE.
I’m strong.
And I’m still fighting. 🩷

If I could go back and hold that woman’s hand, I would tell her:

“You have no idea how much you’re going to endure… but you also have no idea how strong you’re going to become.” 🙏🏻🩷

Yesterday, Awareness 365, Inc. had a little unexpected hiccup before the Labor Day Parade even began.

One of our vehicles decided not to cooperate and the battery died. For a moment, we weren’t sure if we were going to be able to move forward, but I pulled out my little rosary, said a few prayers, and put it in God’s hands 🙏🏼🩷 and with the help of our AMAZING team and someone who stepped in when we needed it, we got that truck jumped and we were on our way 🙏🏻

This little hiccup was the perfect reminder of what Awareness 365 is all about:

We don’t stop. We don’t give up. We find a way forward. 🎗️

The parade was absolutely AMAZING and it’s such an honor to represent all those fighting cancer, those who have fought and those we have lost.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us, cheered us on, supported us and continues to believe in what Awareness 365 stands for.

Together, with faith, love and an incredible team, we keep moving forward. ❤️🙏🏼🎗️

09/01/2026

I don’t usually make a “Feel It on the First” post because, honestly, you shouldn’t only be checking yourself on the first of the month. You should be paying attention to your body every day.

But today is September 1st, and maybe that’s the perfect reason to set that calendar reminder.

Take a few minutes to check yourself.
Pay attention to something that feels different.
Don’t ignore the little things.
Make the appointment.
Go to your screenings.
Keep up with your doctors’ appointments.
And most importantly… be an active participant in your own health.

When cancer ever enters your life, you aren’t the only one who will fight.

Your spouse will fight alongside you.
Your children will fight alongside you.
Your parents, siblings, friends and the people who love you will fight alongside you.

Cancer may have your name attached to it, but the fight touches an entire family. 🩷

If setting a reminder on the first of every month helps you stay accountable, then FEEL IT ON THE FIRST. But don’t let the first be the only day you pay attention.

Take care of yourself, not just for you, but for everyone who loves you. 🩷

From all of us at Awareness 365, Inc., we stand beside every fighter, every survivor, every caregiver and every family walking this road. 🎗️

Be proactive. Be aware. Know your body. Don’t wait.🫶🏻🫶🏻
