Tonight we had the pleasure of celebrating our 2
Year anniversary of opening Northern Maine Skin Cancer Center. We are so blessed to work with such an amazing team and care for such wonderful patients. The best gift was seeing the siding go up on our building! Thank you to the Tarrantine for hosting us.

Not every skin cancer treatment has to involve surgery.

This patient was diagnosed with a Basal Cell Carcinoma and chose GentleCure Image-Guided Superficial Radiation Therapy as a non-surgical treatment option. For this patient, avoiding surgery was important due to concerns about possible surgical complications such as bleeding, infection, and wound healing issues.

Image-guided superficial radiation therapy allows us to treat select skin cancers without cutting, stitches, or a surgical wound. It can be a good option for certain patients and certain tumor locations, especially when surgery is not preferred or may be more difficult.

Every skin cancer is different, and treatment decisions should be individualized based on the tumor type, location, size, patient health, and patient goals.

While most basal cell carcinomas are treated surgically, superficial radiation remains an important option in select situations.
