Look at this photo.

Three women. Three mothers. Three athletes.

And every single one of them is breastfeeding.

Not hidden away. Not apologising. Not asking permission.

Just feeding their babies after giving everything they had on the rugby field.

I love this image because it captures something so many breastfeeding mothers know to be true.

Life doesn't stop when you're breastfeeding.

You still go to work.
You still play sport.
You still chase dreams.
You still show up for your family.

And somehow, in between all of that, you continue to nourish another human being with your own body.

That's incredible.

Breastfeeding isn't weakness. It isn't something that holds women back.

It's strength.

The strength to keep going when you're exhausted.
The strength to keep showing up when nobody sees the hard parts.
The strength to nurture while carrying the mental load of motherhood.

So if you're currently breastfeeding your baby, your toddler, or your little b**b barnacle who's showing absolutely no signs of weaning πŸ˜…, I hope you're proud of yourself.

Because this photo isn't extraordinary because it's rare.

It's extraordinary because it's real πŸ–€

"For the solid first three months it felt like I was in a dark hole, and it was really difficult."

Shawn Johnson East has spoken openly about how her son's colic amplified everything she was already carrying, turning ordinary moments into fight-or-flight, and the early weeks of motherhood into something she describes as a dark hole.

Perinatal mental health disorders can be triggered or intensified by so many things. Whatever brought you here, your experience is valid, and you don't have to stay in that dark place πŸ’™

Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It affects both the mother and the unborn baby, happening in 5-8% of all pregnancies.

The two most common symptoms are high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine, but there are other symptoms to be aware of. These symptoms include:

Protein in your urine (Proteinuria)
Swelling (Edema)
Headaches
Nausea or Vomiting
Abdominal (stomach area) and/or shoulder pain (Lower back pain)
Sudden weight gain
Changes in vision
Strong reflexes (Hyperflexia)
Shortness of breath/anxious feeling

NOTE: These symptoms can cause a change in your baby’s movements, which is a red flag and a reason to get checked out by your provider.

Named after two people from her CMMC care team. 🩷πŸ₯Ή

Baby Bailey Anne’s family gave labor and delivery nurse Bailey York and delivery OB Dr. Anne Merrick the sweetest surprise this week when they shared the story behind her name.

Safe to say this little girl already has two very proud namesakes. πŸ’™
