Dried Herbs 101:
Burdock Root

Last month we had a request for a spotlight on Burdock Root.
Burdock Root is great for liver support, and offers a moistening effect on the internal organs as well as the skin.
If you have a dry constitution (experience dry skin), Burdock is a great herb to add to your rountinue.

Burdock Root is in all of my liver support teas available here at the Apothecary, but you can also purchase it individually.

Fun fact: Burdock leaves from the plant can be used in place of mulch to prevent weeds in your garden. It typically grows during multiple growing seasons throughout the year, and can be found growing under fruit trees.

Dried Herbs can be ordered ahead so they are ready for pick-up when you arrive at the Apothecary.

The Summer Solstice (June 20th) has historically been a time to release what no longer serves you during a moment of maximum vitality.

I invite you to take some time during the longest day of the year to reflect on the past six months and re-align your habits, mindset, and goals for the next six months.

Spend some time outdoors in nature, prioritize restorative rest, and add some cooling foods and herbs to your diet. 💛

Kava Kava Root - also known as Kava Root

Kava is a very powerful herb that is commonly used to assist with Anxiety relief. It is NOT recommended for children.
Kava Kava Root is especially helpful for those who suffer from social anxiety.

Kava Kava Root is most commonly used as a cold brew. Add to water and place in your fridge overnight to experience the full benefits of this herb.
You can also use Kava Kava Root in tincture form.
You may experience a slight tingling on the tongue when sipping Kava Kava Root - but this is completely normal.

This is a great summer drink and is cooling for the body.

Elderflower is part of the same plant, the Elder, that grows Elderberries.
Elderflower specifically is great for allergies and respiratory support, as well as acute cold symptoms and dry eyes.
Elderberry is great for boosting the immune system, where Elderflower helps alleviate active cold symptoms.
