🥬🍓 A Simple Habit That Can Help Protect Your Family
✅ Rinse all fresh produce under cool running water—even if you plan to peel it.
✅ Gently scrub firm fruits and vegetables (like apples, potatoes, cucumbers, and melons) with a clean produce brush.
✅ Dry produce with a clean paper towel or cloth after rinsing.
✅ Wash your hands before and after handling fresh produce.
❌ Skip using soap, bleach, or household cleaners—they aren’t meant to be consumed and can leave harmful residue.
Leafy greens deserve a little extra attention. Separate the leaves and rinse them individually under running water to remove dirt and debris.
Common symptoms of Cyclosporiasis include:
• Watery diarrhea can be severe
• Stomach cramps
• Nausea
• Loss of appetite
• Feeling very tired
• Mild fever
Symptoms usually start about 1 week after you are exposed, but they can start as soon as 2 days or as late as 2 weeks. Without treatment, symptoms can last for weeks or come and go.
If you have diarrhea that lasts more than a few days, especially after eating fresh produce or traveling, see a doctor. This infection needs a special stool test to find it.
