It’s National World Oceans Day 🌊

Summer is a great time to teach your kids more about our ecosystems and taking care of the environment.

Here are some fun ways to incorporate an ocean theme into everyday learning activities 💙

Sensory Bins & Dough
•Sand & Water Beach Bin: Layer kinetic sand on one side of a shallow plastic bin and blue-tinted water on the other. Add plastic sea turtles, smooth pebbles, and real seashells.
•Play-Dough Coral Reef: Let children use blue play-dough for the water and yellow or brown for the sand. Push plastic palm trees, shells, and toy sea life into the dough to build a vibrant underwater scene.

Water & Ice Play
•Frozen Aquarium Rescue: Freeze small ocean animal toys in layers of ice. Give kids spray bottles filled with warm water, pipettes, and salt to "rescue" the frozen animals.

Fine Motor Activities
•Crab Pinchers: Use tongs or clothespins to move small pompoms or beads (as "bubbles" or "fish food") between containers.

Gross Motor Activities
•Crab Walks: Have kids get on their hands and feet with their stomachs facing the ceiling, scuttling sideways like a crab.
•Shark Tag: Designate one child as the "Shark" who chases "Minnows" (other kids) safely across the room or yard.
•Beach Ball Balancing: Toss around a lightweight beach ball to encourage reaching, jumping, and hand-eye coordination.
