Nearly half of the deaths in Franklin Parish are caused by heart disease, which is the leading cause of death here and in all of Louisiana (Source: Louisiana’s 2023 Health Report Card, Louisiana Department of Health).

Each year, February is designated as Heart Month, a time to focus on our personal heart health and promote awareness of our biggest health threat right here at home.

While the mobile unit for the RURAL Heart & Lung study is not here in Franklin, the study continues. We challenge you to WEAR RED this Friday, Feb 07, to promote awareness of heart health and the success of what we did right here in our parish by making this study a success. Wear RED, snap a pic and share it with us so we can share with our RURAL Study team across the country.
