Serve Louisiana Serve Louisiana partners emerging leaders with nonprofits for a paid year.

Louisiana’s longest-running AmeriCorps program, Louisiana Delta Service Corps (LDSC), is one of over 400 AmeriCorps National Service programs. Each year, LDSC partners with over 15 local non-profit organizations, public schools, and grassroots and community initiatives in Baton Rouge and New Orleans to provide capacity-building services in the areas of nutrition, fitness, mental health and wellness, HIV/AIDS prevention, environmental preservation, and youth development. Up to 37 corps members are selected to serve 11 months, full-time as Volunteer Coordinators, Technology and Social Media Coordinators, Program Outreach and Community Awareness Coordinators and Program Development Coordinators. Corps members receive a modest living stipend of $13,000, an education award of $5,775, and tons of personal and professional development and training.

✨ Something new is launching for Serve Louisiana alumni!

We’re kicking off the Serve Louisiana Alumni Leadership Network — a new way for alumni across service years to reconnect, stay connected to Serve LA, support current AmeriCorps Volunteers, and find meaningful ways to get involved beyond their service year.

Join us for an evening of food, drinks, reconnecting, and a first look at what’s ahead.

That’s a wrap on our inaugural Boards & Commissions Fellowship!

Over the past six months, our cohort has been getting ready to do more than just get appointed—they’ve been learning how to actually serve effectively once they’re in the room.

We covered everything from understanding budgets and public meetings to Robert’s Rules, negotiating, building public relationships, power mapping, seeking appointments, and navigating the responsibilities of serving on a board or commission.

We’re proud to have invested in these leaders who are eager to serve and to bring their voices, experiences, and expertise to the tables where decisions are made.

Congratulations to our inaugural cohort!

We kicked off our very first Boards & Commissions Fellowship this week 🎉

Fellows got an introduction to each other and to how local boards and commissions actually work—breaking down enabling legislation, member terms, and appointment processes. We also heard from guest speakers who’ve served on boards and commissions and shared what it really looks like in action.

Excited to see this group of leaders from across South Louisiana stepping up to serve their communities!

Our partners at are driving environmental sustainability and stewardship through research, education and advocacy. Sammy serves as the tree nursery coordinator where she cares for the saplings and grasses that volunteers plant for swamp reforestation and habitat restoration!
