#12: Heart.... the Story of Freedom. And Hope.
Where do I begin . Such a magical day. Studied this horse on the feedlot page several weeks ago.... Number 12. Paid her bail and thought it was smooth sailing. It was anything but.....
Unable to find haulers. Quoted unbelievable amounts of money to get her here. Had truck issues. Couldn't get ahold of the people to line up transportation. Thought she was transferred to Enumclaw. She wasn't on the trailer. I almost forfeited her and gave up. Hmmm. Not really my style.
So today we set out on the 3.5 hr drive to go find her. To the feedlot. (Thanks to Luke Downey , Diane Braxmeyer and River). ❤️
She was scared. She didn't want to be caught. Had long feet and several cuts. When I got her she was wild eyed and frantic. I was a bit overwhelmed. Wondered how we were going to get this girl into any trailer...alone. She was quivering. Appeared fearful to be touched. I took her for a long walk. Alone. Had "the talk." About her future. A life of joy. Of love. And of good grain. She calmed a bit. Told her it was time to leave. Opened the trailer doors and she walked right in. Confident that wherever we were going. It would be better now.
Through the 4 hr drive home... we had long talks. She calmed. Stood steady. Leaned in to a soft touch. She finally found comfort in a human. Seemed ready for her new beginning.
The last picture is her standing at the door to a new life. She didn't rush or jump out like most horses do. She just wanted to take it all in. Her eyes were calm now. A completely different horse. She looked long and hard. Nickered a soft greeting and calmy walked into her stall.
Number 12 is home. She will no longer be a number. She will be loved and have her own special name. ❤️. Maybe it will be symbolic of that beautiful heart on her sweet forehead.
