Many of you remember Ashleigh as our medsync and packaging technician. Almost two years ago she went out on maternity leave. Shortly after the birth of her sweet baby girl, she decided to become a stay at home mom 💕.

Well, now we are so pleased to announce Ashleigh has been back on our team as a remote technician for about 6 months! Here’s a picture of her working from home in matching Pajamas with her little assistant, Lydia Jane! About twice a day on average, Ashleigh logs on from home and monitors the blood pressures and/or blood sugars of patients enrolled in our remote patient monitoring program (RPM). If any measurements are concerning, she contacts the patient and the pharmacist when necessary. What peace of mind knowing someone is looking out for you! ❤️ At the end of every month she reconciles their medication list and sends it over in a report to their primary care doctor along with all their at home readings and any important notifications from our pharmacist.

RPM is easy peasy and covered by Medicare and Medicaid! You even get a brand new FREE monitor! You do NOT have to be a patient of Bayboro Pharmacy and Wellness Center to participate. Contact us to join our group of satisfied participants! 252 745-5539

🗣️PSA: just because a product is over the counter does not mean it is safe or appropriate for you. Age, disease states, organ function, other medications and supplements all matter when choosing an OTC product. Talk to your pharmacist before purchasing.
Pictured here are two bottles a 90+ year old gentleman brought in from home asking for more. I happened to be the one helping him and inquired who was using these products. I was upset to learn his sweet wife was taking both! These products both have diphenhydramine, a medication that’s not recommended in the elderly. I educated this longtime patient of my pharmacy that neither of these products were safe for her and I was extremely concerned about fall risk and impaired cognition and suggested safer and more effective alternatives. He said “throw them away!” It turns out, his wife had been incredibly dizzy and unstable since starting the allergy relief (on top of the pm product) but they had not attributed it to the diphenhydramine. Thank goodness we were able to intervene, help her get better sleep and allergy relief and a BROKEN HIP (or worse) PREVENTED! 💪🏼

We witness situations like this every day. I actually had 3 separate 80+ year olds taking diphenhydramine for sleep that same day 😅!
