Most people think of facial aging as a skin problem: wrinkles, loose skin, sagging. But it actually happens in three layers, and each one changes differently.
Think of it like a house. The skin is the paint. The fat and muscle are the walls and furnishings. The skeleton is the foundation. As we age, even the bone remodels, and when the foundation shifts, everything resting on top changes too.
This is also why some people seem to age more gracefully than others. Stronger bone structure gives the soft tissue and skin better long-term support.
It’s why the first question I ask is which layer is actually changing. Treating the skin when the real issue is volume loss, or treating volume when the real issue is structure, rarely gives the most natural result.
