Wake up, Warriors!
(No, really...wake up and become a warrior!)
There are a host of reasons why working out in the morning is the most beneficial. One of those is that it’s a great way to “set it and forget it”: roll out of bed, follow along, and sweat it out with this supportive group.

Your most challenging movement goals could be met by 6:30 a.m.!
As Labor Day greets us and Fall rolls around, how about joining us to curate some intentional movement habits?
In the morning...
How does that sound?

There to greet you will be one of our wonderful instructors.
It's time to meet one:

Meet our Wake Up Warrior Instructor, Becky!
Becky officially started teaching group fitness classes in 2000 at the Sewickley YMCA, where she taught step, hi-lo aerobics, and strength training. When the Y began offering Pilates classes, Becky quickly jumped on board.

In 2007, Becky took a full-time position at Passavant Retirement Community where she taught various classes geared toward active older adults, including SilverSneakers, chair yoga, and aquatics classes.

Becky joined the B-Well family around 10 years ago, teaching Piyo and PowerCore classes. She continues to teach Pilates at Meko Yoga & Wellness.

In these two years with Paula and the Wake Up Warriors, she’s been happy to use the breadth of her fitness knowledge and creativity. She loves designing a variety of workouts geared exclusively to this group, including cardio, Pilates, and much more.

Join us in Wake Up Warriors to experience the depth and breadth of Becky's expertise, as well as the many benefits of working out in the morning!

💛 Becky is here for you!
And so am I!

You are allowed to take Spiritual Rest.
You are allowed to take Spiritual Rest.
You are allowed to take Spiritual Rest.

We've taken this month to explore 7 types of rest.
Physical
Mental
Emotional
Social
Sensory
Creative
and now....Spiritual.

This one is hard for those who, ahem, SHOULD on themselves.
(Say that out loud. You'll get it.)

But maybe your Spiritual routine, which usually fills your cup, needs a slight detour.
Quiet meditation over rousing music.
Time in solitude over fellowship.
Practicing gratitude.

It is ok to rest from the demands we often feel in this area.
Go ahead and recharge.
If anything, doing so will make your regular practice all the more authentic.

So - did you REST this month?
Let me know below!

Have you caught on yet?
Rest doesn't only equal sleep!
Here's one that we shy away from, but could provide you with the freedom and space you want, but don't always get from a good nap.

Creative rest!

You don't have to be an artist.
You just need to engage your body and mind differently than you do in your daily routines.
Maybe a jaunt around a museum.
Or making vision boards with friends (they aren't JUST for the new year).
Perhaps just sitting before the sunset is enough of a change for your body to reset.
You have permission to scribble.
And along with that permission comes the permission to not do it perfectly or even finish!

Give your brain a rest from your WORK.

Just create.
(I dare ya to give this one a go! Let us know if you do!)

💛 Here for you!

This month, we've been examining different types of rest.
Where do you feel most depleted?
What type of rest do YOU need to explore?

Physical?
Mental?
Emotional?
Social?

or....Sensory?

(What even IS that?)

Sensory rest is about attending to your nervous system to bring it from “fight, flight, or freeze” mode back to “rest and digest” mode.

One way to do so may seem unconventional, but if you're struggling, it's a great FREE way to explore it.

"Forest Bathing" has exploded as a favorite form of restoration, and there’s plenty of science to back it up. A recent North Carolina State University study published by Cambridge University showed that “exposure to restored forest [small, urban green spaces] reduces stress, increases well-being and assists with perceived restorativeness; they also suggest that birdsong soundscapes have additive beneficial effects”.

I'm in, if you're in.

Any other ideas for resting the nervous system?
Share away!

Here for you!

How are your "micro-rests" coming along?
Or, at least, identifying those little pockets of rest that are necessary for your physical, mental, emotional, and....yes, SOCIAL well-being?

Social rest goes much deeper than "Are you an extrovert or are you an introvert?".

Social rest can include implementing healthy boundaries when you need time alone.
Or, it could mean recharging WITH people when you find yourself spending TOO much time alone.

Have you ever explored what gives YOU social rest?

If that's a new concept, take some time to examine how you could implement social rest in your life.
Because you don't need to run on empty just to make everyone happy.

It's time to recharge!

Next week, we'll talk about a few more types of rest.

Have you learned anything new so far???

As always, here for you!

How are those emotions treating you?
Need to focus on regulating them?

Emotional rest could mean seeing a therapist or meeting with a safe friend who gives you space to unload.

Maybe it’s journaling.
Or scribbling those pesky thoughts.
To get them out of your head.

Perhaps it’s giving yourself permission to feel some sort of way and then actively choosing to let that sh*t go.

As we explore different types of rest, share how you give your emotions much needed R & R!

Here for you,

Before the school-year takes off at a clip, we’re taking the month to explore different types of rest!

Our brains need rest. Not simply sleep. But, rest.

For example.

When I head out for a walk, I often leave the earbuds at home. A break from the clanging, never-ending digital noise allows my brain to take a deep breath, to discover something new, and actually relax.

It takes practice to intentionally turn off noise.

But that’s what we do here.
We practice.
And in doing so, we grow.

How do you give your brain a break?

Share below!

💛 Here for you,

This month we’re exploring different types of rest, because rest doesn’t always = sleep.

Rest doesn’t have to be sleep or even laying down - it can simply be a gentler form of movement that offers a different form of restoration.

For me, my Monday evening yoga class is a type of restoration I don't get from my other health practices.

And maybe you’re craving rest, too.
But are struggling to figure out how.
That’s where a health coach comes in.
And as luck would have it, I AM one.

Need to explore ways to help your body function in a well rounded, healthy way?
But feel overwhelmed by all the “ways”?

I can help.
Shoot me a DM or email and let’s rest together…over a chat.

Here for you.
