🤯 CMS has officially launched the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program.

Beginning July 1, 2026, and currently scheduled through December 31, 2027, eligible Medicare beneficiaries will be able to access certain GLP-1 weight-loss medications for a fixed $50 monthly copay—even though Medicare has historically not covered medications prescribed solely for weight loss.

What makes this especially noteworthy is that traditional Medicare still does not broadly cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for obesity. Dietitian services remain largely limited to beneficiaries with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.

So we now have a pathway for medication access without a corresponding pathway for nutrition care for many beneficiaries.

As obesity treatment continues to evolve, it raises an important question:

Should Medicare expand access to evidence-based nutrition counseling alongside pharmacotherapy to improve outcomes and support long-term success?

* BMI ≥ 27 with certain weight-related health conditions such as cardiovascular disease or prediabetes.

Which drugs are covered?

Calories matter. But here’s the deal: humans are more than numbers.

Calorie counting may work beautifully for one person and feel overwhelming, triggering, or ineffective for another. Working with a dietitian can be life-changing, but only when the plan is individualized, realistic, and connected to one’s life.

As dietitians, we are not here to just hand out numbers. We are here to understand the whole person: your health history, labs, medications, stress, sleep, preferences, culture, barriers, and goals.

We believe that sustainable change is not about forcing a person into a formula. It is about creating a plan that fits each human.

When providers trust experienced dietitians who old certification in diabetes to help manage blood sugars >>> outcomes change. 🙌

We don’t just “talk about food.” We understand glucose patterns, medications, behavior change, and real-life management. Years of expertise matter, and collaboration matters even more.

Love seeing providers recognize the value we bring to diabetes care. 💙

For my Spain Camino de Santiago trip, I invested in a lot of things—including a very valuable $30 clip.

No, this isn’t sponsored by … but I wish it was 😆

This clip gear made me think about the kind of value we aim to bring at YouCose Health. Practical and reliable tools that actually work. Care that’s worth the investment
