This stove was only hooked up for the end of last winter, but it was fun to try boiling syrup and drying clothes with, while also heating the house. I gotta say too, I kind of liked chopping wood, for the most part lol. I love having it going again! It’s been so warm and cozy in the house, not to mention, I didn’t have to start the oven to reheat leftovers or dry apples and marigolds for Thelma 🙌🏻❤️🔥

Say what you want about chickens and ducks, but they’re a lot smarter than most humans and last night this example hit home with the kids. 🦆🐓 Yesterday was super windy and luckily, especially since the accident, I try to get out to close the hen house up by the time it gets dark. The door had blown closed so the chickens and ducks couldn’t get in the coup. They were all hiding under or on top of it and as soon as I got half way to them, they’re relieved chatter started, calling the rest to come out at get to safety! 🙌🏻 I pointed out to the kids, it didn’t take each chicken and duck getting attacked for them to learn how to be safe. Just one, if even that. The newer birds simply follow the older ones in order to learn what to do. Hmmm... 😂❤️

When she is digging... do not disturb!! She has finally made it through this box. The whole time I’m sitting there working, I find myself randomly giggling at her endless tearing and ripping! I love this sweet rabbit. I think she’s ready to keep my lap warm and take a break 😂❤️

Before heading out on a few late errands (since it is the weekend so the kids can be up a little extra considering one of those errands is toilet paper 😬) I went to pick Thelma a twig from the apple tree to keep her occupied while we are gone. I decided to see if there was anything left after the freeze in the garden, and what do you know?! I’ll have to look up how to make dehydrated carrot treats. I can’t let them go to waste and that’s one less bag of treats to buy at the store ❤️

We won’t let Thelma eat them all. Well, not right away! The kids and I are going to dry them out so she can enjoy them through the winter ❤️🐰

I rarely cook for just myself because I do enough of it when everyone else is here. I just graze or pick typically. But today, I saw those leftover mashed white and purple potatoes from the garden and decided to cook myself some lunch. With the perfect seasoning, fresh eggs from our chickens and my first round of homemade pickles on the side... lunch is served!! And super satisfying too! Simple pleasures ❤️

Boy have I been missing out!! Most of my life, ducks were like many animals to me. I respected and appreciated them as living things, but never really paid much attention or had reason or experience or natural curiosity to take specific notice. But ducks are not only very interesting to have around and fun to watch, they are miraculously beautiful! The intricacy of the colors and patterns in their feathers. The brilliance of the green head feathers and pop of blue and green by the tail are some of the most stunning works of art❤️🦆 @ Tap That Grove

One of my most favorite pets ever, was a dwarf bunny named Clyde. It’s what I wanted to give the kids for Christmas, rather than the gecko that just sits there. Lately, I’ve been really wanting a dog companion again, but not only being a ton of responsibility like all pets, there is a lot of extra care and considerations they require. This little mama needed a new home and instantly she felt like she was meant to be ours!! Meet Thelma! The newest member of our family ❤️ @ Animal Rescue League of NH
