Today, we’re recognizing something truly powerful, the combination of hard work and teamwork that made a real difference in someone’s life.
In moments of crisis, there’s no room for hesitation. It takes training, trust, and a shared commitment to step in and do what needs to be done. Every decision, every action, and every second matters.
What this team demonstrated was more than skill, it was coordination, communication, and the kind of dedication that turns effort into impact. Because of that, a life was saved.
That’s not something we take lightly. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do and the difference we can make when we work together.
To this team, thank you for your hard work, your professionalism, and your commitment to serving others. Your actions truly matter.
This is the very definition of a job well done.” Monroe County EMS

Today, I want to take a moment to recognize Millstadt Ambulance Service amazing providers!
Success like this doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen by one person alone. It’s built through dedication, long hours, problem-solving, and the willingness to support each other every step of the way.
This team has shown what it means to stay committed, to push through challenges, and to take pride in the work you do. The results we’re celebrating today are a direct reflection of your effort, your collaboration, and your determination.
Each of you has played a part, and together you’ve achieved something worth recognizing.
So, thank you, for your hard work, your teamwork, and your commitment to excellence.

What we’re celebrating here is more than just results. It’s the effort behind the scenes, the willingness to go above and beyond, and the positive impact that kind of work has on everyone around us.
To those being recognized, thank you!!! Your hard work sets a standard and inspires others to strive for excellence.
Let’s continue to build on this momentum and support each other in doing our best every single day.

The Southwestern Illinois EMS System would like to pay our respects to Andy Grawitch. Andy was a former paramedic in our EMS system. More than that, Andy helped develop the paramedic program in St. Clair County, IL and went on to become one of the first instructors in the program. His passion for education did not stop there. Andy also taught International Trauma Life Support (formerly known as Basic Trauma Life Support), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and much more. Andy also went on to become a registered nurse, working in the emergency room at Belleville Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. Andy was an integral part of the success of many paramedics in the Southwestern Illinois EMS System and beyond. We all mourn Andy's passing and will keep his legacy alive.
