This page has been pretty silent in the last couple of years as my role as gardener has shifted into more community and clinical work. I have not had the capacity to update the page often. But some exciting new things! We are building a greenhouse, which will be huge in starting crops early, propigating Native plants and overwintering species we otherwise couldn't grow.
I have also added 80 fruit and nut trees around the clinic campus. These include mulberries, persimmons, pawpaw, apples, pears (European and Asian), plums, peaches, nectarines, medlar, hardy kiwi goji, jujube, walnuts, hickories, northern pecan, chestnuts, hazelnuts, service berries and cultivated/native cherries. Diversity is the goal here.
The coastal prairie beds have also expanded and include biscuit roots, camas (lesser and greater), meadow barley, wild onions, yellow rattle, mugwort, wild sunflowers, shooting stars, chocolate lily, gumweed, seathrift, yarrow and many more essential native prairie plants.
Enjoy some updated pictures from last season. More to come!
