✨June Resident Spotlight✨

This month we are shining a spotlight onto one of residents whose smile can't help but make you want to smile right back!

Donald Serdotz was born in Seattle, Washington, where he spent his early years living with his mother. Later in life, he moved to Bellingham and worked at a workshop called "Current Industry" until it closed.

Don has always enjoyed staying active and social, especially through his love of travel and dancing. Don traveled to Nashville many times and became known as a talented square dancer. During his years in Washington, he has enjoyed many memorable field trips, including whale-watching boat rides in Friday Harbor and the San Juan Islands, as well as visits to the Woodland Park Zoo and Aquarium.

Don has a special love for animals and lights up whenever he sees them, and he treasures the many furry friendships he has made over the years. When not around animals, he enjoys watching western movies and listening to old-time western music.

Don has many friends who often come to visit him. His warm personality makes him easy to know and love. Here at North Cascades Health & Rehab, Don has truly won everyone’s heart with his wonderful smile, kind spirit, and joyful presence.

✨Shining a Spotlight on Resident Guadalupe "Lupe" Soto ✨

Guadalupe "Lupe" Soto was born in Toppen*sh Washington. She lived there until age 19 when she married Ruben Moreno.

In 1968 she moved to Whatcom County with her husband's family. They lived in Lynden on West Pole Rd where they built their own house. Lupe has two daughters who she loves deeply. She worked has a professional housekeeper for wealthy families.

in 1981 Lupe and Ruben divorced and she moved with her daughters to Idaho Falls to be closer to her sisters. She lived in Idaho Falls until the mid 2000's, she then spent time in both California and Washington living with her daughters.

Lupe is a grandmother to 1 granddaughter named Jessica, and 3 grandsons- Enrique, Diego, and Cruise. She even has 3 great grandsons- Tyus, Nico, and Gabriel.

Lupe loves to be outdoors. She enjoys working in the yard tending to flowers or fruit trees. She has a kind heart and is always lifting people up with praise and compliments.

We are honored to have Lupe as part of our North Cascades Family.

✨Shining a spotlight on our wonderful AM Cook, Maria! ✨

Maria has been a dedicated member of our facility since 2018, consistently demonstrating commitment, growth, and pride in her work.

In 2010, Maria made the decision to return to school and successfully completed her Dietary Manager course through North Dakota University. This achievement reflects her determination to grow professionally and deepen her knowledge in her field.

Maria is deeply family-oriented and devotes much of her time outside of work to her son and her church community. Her values of care and service clearly carry over into her role here.

While Maria may be a bit bashful, her work ethic speaks volumes. She is an incredibly hard worker who pushes herself every day to prepare thoughtful, well-presented meals for our residents. Her consistency and quiet dedication make a meaningful impact on both the team and the residents we serve.

Maria is a valued member of our team, and we are proud to recognize her contributions.
