Copper and estrogen are directly connected β and most women have never heard this. β¨
Copper and estrogen have a bidirectional relationship. When estrogen rises copper tends to rise alongside it. When copper is not being properly metabolized and cleared estrogen recirculates rather than being eliminated efficiently.
This can contribute to what is commonly called estrogen dominance:
πΏ Heavy or painful periods
πΏ PMS and mood swings
πΏ Breast tenderness
πΏ Weight gain around hips and thighs
πΏ Anxiety and emotional sensitivity
On HTMA we look at your copper to molybdenum ratio β Cu/Mo. Molybdenum supports copper metabolism and estrogen clearance through the liver. When molybdenum is depleted copper accumulates and estrogen does not clear efficiently.
Worth noting β this is one pattern among many. Elevated estrogen symptoms have multiple potential causes and this is one piece of a larger picture. HTMA adds context alongside proper medical evaluation.
