A passion of mine is working with women in the postpartum period. This is a tender time and it’s always an honor to sit with moms who have just brought new life into the world 💕

I typically recommend getting updated bloodwork somewhere between 4-8 weeks postpartum, whenever mom has the bandwidth to do so!

It is especially important to look at iron status and thyroid function at this time

There is a very high demand for iron during pregnancy and we want to ensure that iron status is normal and iron stores are looking good

Pregnancy and/or the shift in hormones that happens postpartum can alter thyroid function. The thyroid is “the master of metabolism” and works with your brain to keep the body balanced. It’s also involved in breastmilk production!

We need to ensure mama’s body, mind and heart are nourished and well taken care of in the postpartum time period so she and baby can thrive 💗

There are quite a few new faces here so I wanted to say hello and thanks for being here! 👋

I am Dr Kelcie, a naturopathic family physician, wife and mama living in the PNW 🌲

I co-own Terrain Natural Medicine where I see members of the whole family for general health concerns and chronic conditions. I believe in holistic, patient centered, compassionate care and have a special interest in women’s health and pediatrics 🩺

Outside of work I enjoy playing in the outdoors! It’s been a fun adventure to introduce my son, Bo, to some of my favorite things, including mountain biking 🚵🍼

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health illness in the US and affects approximately 18.1% of the population every year!

Although medication is sometimes appropriate and necessary, naturopathic medicine is highly effective at treating anxiety naturally through a whole-person approach

Anxiety is often times multi-faceted and can be caused by genetic, psychologic and/or physiologic factors

My approach to anxiety is to first:

Investigate: Why is this anxiety happening? What is the root cause of the anxiety? A thorough history will be taken including past history of trauma, diet and lifestyle factors and baseline lab work followed by more pointed specialty lab work if indicated (hormone testing for example)

I also will guide patients to a mental health professional that they can work with simultaneously while incorporating naturopathic support

Next, my patients and I work as a team to determine the best treatment plan for them which can include:

1. Nutritional interventions
2. Herbal allies for mood support
3. Targeted supplementation if need be
4. Homeopathy
5. Lifestyle interventions including movement (exercise)
and mindfulness suggestions
6. Medications: There is no shame in needing a
medication and these can be lifesaving 💗

I suffered from terrible post-partum anxiety and insomnia and I got help. It was hard for me to reach out for help and admit that I needed it but I am so glad I did.

You don’t have to suffer! 💕

And just like that my first season with Bo has come & gone! Our family is doing well and I am ever so slightly more well slept (🙏🏻🤞🏻) these days

It is a time of huge transitions for me. A new baby, new business partner (the fabulous .megan.arlt) and some other exciting changes at .

I think the biggest lesson I am supposed to be learning right now is “nothing lasts”. The hard days won’t last and the good times are fleeting as well. It’s all we can do to be present and go with the ever changing flow 🌀

I am back in the office tomorrow and looking forward to seeing all of my established patients as well as some new faces around the clinic. Thanks for trusting me with your care 💗

What a year it’s been!

I found out I was pregnant the day before Thanksgiving 2024. We had been trying for almost a year and were beside ourselves with excitement that we finally got that positive test. Two weeks later I lost the pregnancy. Cue devastation and sadness.

Miscarriage is heartbreaking and also quite common. A silver lining to this loss was that I was connected with a number of women who had also had a miscarriage. It was very healing to talk about it with other ladies who had been there, which is why I am sharing this story here. Feel free to reach out if you want to chat!

We ended up getting pregnant with Bo right away and we found out on New Year’s Day. He’s here and healthy and I still can’t believe it sometimes. This life is wild and wonderful and everything in-bewtween

I am looking forward to being back in the office at early January to support all of the amazing women, kiddos and families I have the opportunity to work with. My schedule is now open.

Here are some photos from this season of my family’s life. I will see you all in 2026! 💗✨
