High Energy Workdays is different nutrition advice.

Habits like skipping meals to keep working feel productive in the moment, but it leads to losing energy and working slower as the day progresses.

Instead of making your team feel guilty about what they eat, this lunch and learn brings a new excitement to food.

Every team I talk to is aware of the afternoon slump. People are working hard, and having more energy would be great to keep up.

An important conversation when considering employee wellness is, “Is this money worth spending?” Hiring someone to provide a workshop for your team is an investment you want to know will be valuable.

You know where your profits come from, but low energy is a hidden money drainer.

I created the Team Energy Cost Assessment to help you put a dollar amount to the afternoon slump for your team.

If you’re questioning if investing in a nutrition workshop for your team is worth it, this is a great place to start.

Take the 5-minute assessment for your workplace:

Estimate what low afternoon energy costs your team every year, then find the single highest-leverage place to start fixing it.

Labor Day for my family has always been an excuse to get together.

My first memories include eating in the shade of the yard, between 2 trees. I never wanted to ride in my Barbie jeep because I didn’t want to be a focus of attention.

The setup for the day has changed over and over, but what’s remained is a day with food and family at the center.

Wishing you a happy Labor Day, especially if it means just another day of work.

The kids at Head Start always asked what’s in my bag. Loading it up yesterday made me smile thinking about it.

Today, my bag is ready for leading High Energy Workdays at Upper Deck Roofing in Godfrey.

The business is growing, and I’m looking forward to helping the team keep energy up to stay efficient!

I had a conversation with someone in the banking industry who described their environment as “food centric.”

I couldn’t tell you how many workers at Simmons Hanly Conroy told me they were foodies prior to the start of their workshop.

What is it that makes the world-go-round? Because I’m convinced it’s food.

High Energy Workdays isn’t a diet seminar.

I’ve heard from enough people, “I don’t eat healthy.” To be blunt, I don’t care.

Instead, this interactive workshop teaches your team that food affects your energy. Simple and straightforward.

Taking the pressure off of eating “healthy” makes food a conversation everyone’s interested in.

I spent the morning running errands and was so exhausted when I came home I didn’t even want to put my groceries away.

There was (seemingly) no reason for me to be tired.

I’ve heard it said at work, “I don’t know why I’m so tired today.”

After spending hours answering emails, serving clients, working the production line, something is missing.

Fuel.

How common is it for your staff to skip breakfast or run on coffee?

Like gas in the car, your body needs fuel to keep going too.

Crashing isn’t surprising when you know food is energy.

We’ve all been to that point of wanting to quit.
I’m throwing in the towel.
Stick a fork in me, I’m done.

Quitting itself isn’t a problem; it’s the voice calling you a failure.

Something I’ve learned is quitting isn’t failing. You need to know when to quit - your stress can’t take anymore, your relationships are suffering, you no longer care about the work you’re doing.

Failing happens when you give up. You say “I’m done” without feeling like you’ve given it your all.

As long as you have the passion and the ability, keep going.

I had a consultation this week with a manager at World Wide Technology.

There’s a perfect quote on their website from Jim Kavanaugh, CEO and Co-Founder:

“Our employees are the foundation of our company’s success and how we run our business.”

I’ve been thinking more about why a leader would bring me in for employee wellness.

I thought, every business cares about productivity. How much work gets done determines how much money you make.

But my eyes have opened to the truth behind productivity: your people.

At the end of the day, you don’t have a business without the people who make it happen.

The businesses who care about their employees are the ones really standing out.
