Beating yourself up is silly. Read this caption.

I’ve been thinking about this panel lately and how aspirational it can be when looked at metaphorically to our lives.

If you don’t know, the panel is from Batman:Year One, which is my all time favorite fictional story.

Panels context - After returning to Gotham following twelve years of training abroad, Bruce tests himself at Wayne Manor and realizes that although he has the physical ability to fight crime, he still has not figured out the identity and approach he needs to do it effectively.

But what he doesn’t do is beat himself up.

Instead, he spends his time -

* realistically acknowledging what he does have in place in his life

* getting BETTER by practicing

* affirming himself that he has to wait. Not “I fu***ng suck”

What a mindset for all of us, especially us ADHDers, to aspire to have.

We can get there, it takes reframing.

If you’ve had a shortcoming recently, let this be your reminder to PUSH BACK on your self defeating thoughts, acknowledge the reality that getting better is possible and know that your shortcomings don’t define you.

You will only grow as you be more and more persistent.

“I have the means, the skills, but not the method. I have to wait.”

“How can I help?”

These were the first words ever said to me by Brendan Mahan (Brendan Mahan ) when I first met him at the International ADHD conference in 2022.

At the time, I was with John Hazelwood who was speaking at the event, just kicking off the Men's ADHD Support Group as a non profit.

I remember thinking how cool it was that Brendan, who I know from the very viral “Wall of Awful” video on How to ADHD , wanted to work with us. I also remember seeing a sticker on his laptop that said “Rah Rah like a dungeon dragon”, so I knew he was someone I wanted in my circle.

My buddy, Brendan, is a LEADER in this field and has helped out so many with ADHD, and is about to help even more with this book, THATS OUT TOMORROW, SEPT 1ST.

If you struggle with ADHD, autism or anxiety, do yourself a favor and grab this book at your local Barnes & Noble Booksellers tomorrow.

Brendan just gets it and helps people like us win.

Entered my 30s today.

Im so thankful for the decision I made to spend my 20s the way that I did.

My 20s were all about learning my strengths, finding and building my community, building my business acumen, entering corporate America and building a non profit.

I’m so excited for this next phase on my life, continuing to be a student, implement more of all that I’ve learned and take on new challenges.

Today, I celebrate turning 30 as well as the growth mindset that I made the *decision* (that we’re all capable of making) of adopting so young.

The future looks bright, because I decide so. ❤️

& thank you to all my friends and mentors who’ve helped me along the way

Years ago, I remember sitting in an office after extensive testing, awaiting a diagnosis to see what was going on with my brain. It was a time period of my life where I really needed help.

As I was waiting there, there was a copy of ADDitude magazine that I picked up from the table in front of me. That was the very first moment that I learned about the ADHD and thought to myself “wow - that’s me.”

Years later, I can proudly say that I went from reading and learning about this unique brain, to writing about it on the very same platform that I had first learned about it.

A special thank you to my friends at magazine for making this happen and letting me rep my non profit,
