Small Town USA! Thank you for sharing our Apple Butter Festival, WV event!!

On October 9th, the West Virginia Apple Butter Festival gets underway with a Friday night Beer Garden Party before downtown Berkeley Springs fills up for the 51st annual celebration on October 10th and 11th. Saturday begins with the 9 a.m. parade, bringing floats, bands, costumes, and plenty of small-town spirit through the streets. From there, visitors can browse more than 200 vendors offering pottery, jewelry, quilts, woodwork, art, food, and other handmade goods while live music carries through downtown. The biggest tradition is the apple butter, slowly cooked over open fires in large copper kettles. Some batches are stirred for nearly eight hours, and visitors may even get a turn with the long-handled stirrers. Come hungry for hot apple fritters, cider, apple dumplings, barbecue, kettle corn, funnel cakes, and other festival favorites. The weekend also brings the hog-calling contest, rubber duck race, baking contests, beard contest, and Apple Butter Quilt raffle. New for 2026 is the festival’s first-ever Trail 5K at Cacapon Resort State Park on Sunday morning. Berkeley Springs State Park sits right in the heart of town, where its famous mineral water flows year-round at a steady 74.3 degrees, making it an easy stop between the festival, shops, restaurants, spas, and inns.
