Yoga is not enough. No matter the age, weight training is important, but it’s even more important as we age. I am 50 and in perimenopause and there is so much change in the body. I have been teaching yoga for over 16 years and I was very surprised to find out that I have low bone density. I’ve had many years in my life that I did include weight training in my routine. I was a competitive athlete into my 30s. So when I found out that I have low bone density, it was a real wake up call. I’ve been getting back to the gym this year, but I found it hard to be consistent- starting the new habit… so I’m celebrating today that I’m back!

Yoga has so many benefits yet it is essential to include strength training!

Also it’s a taste of what our retreats will be like. Why slow, Yoga? It’s all about presence. When you have the time to notice your breath, your body, and your emotions. In this space there’s opportunity to notice. Be curious and make a shift.

Slow yoga is great for releasing stress, anxiety, and bring in more relaxation and openness in the body of mind. It’s also great if you are healing from an illness or injury, as it is more capacity for making adjustments to fit you where you are at in this moment.
