Ever notice how the week doesn’t fall apart all at once?

It usually happens in 𝑡𝘪𝑛𝘺, 𝑖𝘯𝑣𝘪𝑠𝘪𝑏𝘭𝑒 𝑚𝘰𝑚𝘦𝑛𝘵𝑠:

Decision time …
Should I bring 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧 out for a cameo during my 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐃𝐇𝐃

𝐈’𝐦 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 … 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬.

Even after doing this work for decades, teaching 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝐹𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑡𝑜 𝐹𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑜𝑚 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝐴𝐷𝐻𝐷 still matters deeply to me. Because I know how quietly exhausting life can feel when you’re bright, capable, and always holding it together.

𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒑 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒌𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐:

Tonight is the longest night of the year.
A 𝑆𝑎𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑃𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒.
A 𝐷𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝐵𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡ℎ.
𝑼𝒏𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 … 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑨𝑫𝑯𝑫.

Then it’s 3 tabs open, 0 finishes, and maybe a candle if you remembered.

𝐀𝐃𝐇𝐃 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 + 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜 = 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐬 (𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆’𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆)

It was supposed to be a quick trip to an unexpected school meeting.
But I hit construction delays.
Gas was low.
Parking was a mess.
And 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦𝑜𝑛𝑒 was out — schools, businesses, shoppers, traffic, all at once.

ADHD brains like mine?
We feel it all — the sensory load, the interruptions, the sudden change of plans.

And I realized something.

👉 I discovered the secret to getting through high-demand days with less overwhelm by letting go of “the most efficient” and choosing what was 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 for my brain.

It became clear that simplifying my day 𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆 gave me back my calm — and my focus.

That’s when I realized: it’s 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑑𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑡 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 — it’s about doing what 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑛.

So I got gas.
I skipped the veggie-chopping and ordered takeout.
And I made it through the day without losing myself.

That’s the work I do now — helping 𝑨𝑫𝑯𝑫 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒔𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒌, not perfection.

start a task, jump to another and another — 𝑠𝑢𝑑𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑙𝑦 there are 𝑓𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑛 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑠 and 𝐏𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒.

Instead of peace and simplicity …
You’ve got mounds of paper and holiday chaos.

(Though, let’s be honest — if you stacked those piles just right, you 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 call it a tree, slap a star on top, and 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒂̀ … no need to buy one!! 🎄
