Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) refers to the delivery of higher concentrations of oxygen in a pressurized environment. A typical therapy session will last 60 to 90 minutes in duration. While undergoing therapy the amount of oxygen the blood can carry is increased by 8 to 12 times above normal. The increased oxygen is then able to be dissolved into tissues, fluids and bone assisting the body in f
ighting bacteria, reducing swelling and inflammation, while stimulating growth factors to promote healing. The number of sessions will be dependent upon medical conditions. Combining HBOT with other therapies can be a part of any comprehensive plan to enhance effectiveness toward positive outcomes.
