Fried foods are undeniably delicious—especially when dining out. One of my favorites has always been French fries, whether they’re classic potato fries or sweet potato fries. There is just something about a crispy, salty potato!
But there is a hidden piece of the puzzle in many restaurant fries: the oils they are cooked in. Many restaurants use highly processed seed oils, such as corn, soybean, or canola oil. These oils are often extracted and refined through industrial processes, which can increase oxidation and create compounds we may not want to consume regularly—especially when repeatedly heated for frying.
Does that mean I never eat French fries? Absolutely not! Food is also about enjoyment, balance, and living life. I still splurge from time to time because I genuinely love them. 😊
Recently, I found a better option: organic frozen French fries made by Folkland and prepared with olive oil. They are surprisingly delicious! I found them in the frozen section at Giant Food.
A simple swap that lets me enjoy one of my favorite foods while being a little more mindful about the ingredients.
