ACLD was founded in 1957 by a group of families seeking educational and recreational services for their children. During the seventies and eighties, residential and day program development became a cornerstone of the organization's activities and this continues today.

Today, we honor and remember the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

All ACLD programs and administrative buildings are closed in observance of Memorial Day. We thank all who have served and continue to serve.

As we wrap up the week, let's not overlook some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

The I/DD community and their workforce deserve our advocacy and support.

Please join us in reminding lawmakers the importance of including the full 4% TII in the final New York State budget: https://bit.ly/4tm0hhk

It may be , but at ACLD, we focus on mental wellness year-round!

Imagine a place where you could go from deep within the jungle 🌴 to driving in the Indy 500 🚗, to exploring the deep blue sea 🐬...all of this and more are possible in ACLD's Immersive Rooms.

ACLD Immersive Rooms encourage the user to engage and explore the environment, having a positive impact on their ability to react and interact with the larger world around them. Sensory environments can be highly absorbing, providing a moment of comfort and calm helping users feel more engaged. This improves focus and prevents users from getting frustrated and seeking out less healthy means to vent frustrations. 💆🏻‍♂️

Through the support of grants and donors, we’ve been able to expand this offering to three day program locations: B.L.U.E. in Deer Park, Bethpage and Hauppauge.

I/DD providers continue to face detrimental staffing shortages and rising operating costs.

A full 4% TII in the final New York State budget would help greatly alleviate the burden on providers, staff, and the I/DD community.

We urge lawmakers to include the full 4% TII. Tell them here: https://bit.ly/4tm0hhk

We may see a final New York State budget as soon as this week - meaning the time to act is now. A full 4% TII is imperative to stabilize I/DD services, support the workforce, and protect the progress providers have already made.

Please join us in reminding our legislators to keep the progress going: https://bit.ly/4tm0hhk

The inclusion of a Targeted Inflationary Increase (TII) in the State Budget is not just a want, but a need‼️

The Executive Budget is close to completion and the TII is still on the table. We need your help 📢 to tell key lawmakers to include a 4% TII in the budget.

Today marks the start of both and week, which recognizes two vital teams of our ACLD workforce: our Children's Services and Clinical Services staff! 🩺🍎

We are incredibly grateful to the hard work, compassion and dedication these employees bring to their roles day in and day out.
