Patient 28-year-old with an asymptomatic, well-demarcated erythematous depapillated patch on the dorsal tongue, with a subtle serpiginous peripheral border and preserved surrounding papillae. A similar sharply demarcated erythematous area is present on the hard palate, supporting involvement of oral mucosa beyond a focal lingual lesion. The appearance is benign and inflammatory, without ulceration, induration, exudate, or mass effect. The classic diagnostic clue is migratory, map-like depapillated erythematous patches on the tongue.

Women experiencing insomnia during perimenopause and menopause often ask me: “Why am I still not sleeping, even on hormone therapy?”

Patient 30-year-old + multiple asymptomatic, yellow-white papules clustered on the inner aspect of the upper and lower lips + numerous discrete, 1–3 mm papules on the labial mucosa with a slightly raised, yellowish appearance against otherwise intact mucosa + no ulceration or significant surrounding inflammation + clinical examination is usually sufficient, with biopsy reserved for atypical lesions + multiple tiny yellow-white papules on the labial mucosa representing ectopic sebaceous glands are the classic diagnostic clue.
