Some visions are too big to fit into an existing category.

A medical facility. A wellness retreat. A hospitality destination.

We tend to think of these as separate experiences, each with its own purpose, design, and way of serving people.

This is the kind of impact we hope our work has long after the design is finished.

“It’s a place that makes me want to come to work day after day.”

We spend so much time thinking about the patient experience in healthcare design, and rightfully so.

But there’s another group of people who spend every single day within that environment.

The physicians.
The providers.
The nurses.
The team caring for everyone who walks through the door.

So when we design a practice, we think about them too.

How the space supports the way they work.
How it feels to move through throughout the day.

Whether it reflects the level of care they’re proud to provide.

And whether walking through the doors each morning still connects them to the vision that inspired them to create the practice in the first place.

The best outcome isn’t only a practice your patients love. It’s one you love walking into every day, too. 💫

There’s something special about the moment a vision you’ve been carrying in your mind finally becomes something you can step inside.

When Tyler and his wife came to us, they were still in the early stages of creating their new medspa.

But the vision was already there.

They wanted to create an experience that felt distinctly theirs, down to meaningful details like the Fibonacci sequence woven into their brand.

Our role was to listen closely enough to understand what they were really trying to create, then translate that vision into an environment people could eventually experience.

And this is one of our favorite moments in that process.

Before construction begins, Tyler gets to put on a VR headset and walk through what we’ve been imagining together for the first time. 

This is the moment a vision starts becoming a place.

Every visible object in a treatment room gives the brain something else to process.

Imagine walking into a treatment room filled with exposed supplies, cords, equipment, labels, and objects competing for your attention.

You may not consciously think, “This room feels cluttered.”
But your brain is still taking it all in.

Every additional visual cue is another piece of information to process.

For a patient already thinking about a diagnosis or procedure, every added detail gives the mind one more thing to take in. 

This is why healthcare design goes beyond making a room look clean.

Thoughtful storage, clear surfaces, and intentional placement can reduce how much unnecessary information is competing for a patient’s attention.

The less the environment demands, the more a space can truly heal. ✨

Some of our most impactful meetings have nothing to do with design.

At Simour, growing and expanding together is part of our culture.

We call it our Family Club, time we set aside from projects to talk about who we’re becoming, what we’re learning, and the ideas changing how we see the world. 

✨ Sometimes that means reading and discussing a book together.

✨ Sometimes it’s taking a course on neuroscience and exploring the connection between the brain, the body, and our environment.

✨ Sometimes it’s simply bringing an idea to the team that made one of us stop and think differently.

We believe that the more we grow as people, the more we’re capable of creating. 

New ideas shape the questions we ask.
They change what we notice.

They give us new ways of thinking about leadership, human experience, and the environments we create.

For us, growth doesn’t happen outside of the work.

It’s part of how we do the work. 💫

So much of our work is about helping our clients imagine what’s possible for the next chapter of their practice.

We make space to do the same at Simour.

Beyond the projects in front of us, we ask ourselves about the bigger vision: 
What are we excited to create?
What are we curious to explore?
What do we want Simour to feel like as we grow?

These conversations happen in the intentional moments where we think beyond what already exists.

Some ideas become plans. Others open the door to conversations we hadn’t thought to have yet.

But all of them give our team a chance to be part of imagining what comes next.

The neuroscience behind curved edges vs. sharp angles when designing a medical practice. 

We take in far more about a space than we realize. 

Research suggests that sharp, angular forms can be associated with a greater sense of threat, while curved forms tend to be perceived as more approachable.

For healthcare design, that’s a meaningful signal, especially in the details patients come closest to. 

The curve of a reception desk.
The shape of a doorway.
The edges of built-in millwork.
The furniture surrounding a patient while they wait or receive care.

The shapes surrounding us are part of the experience our brains are interpreting.

At Simour, we think about these details not only for what they add visually, but for how they can support the way someone experiences care.

Sometimes something as simple as a curve can be part of a much bigger intention.

The body responds to a healthcare environment long before we consciously decide whether we like the way it looks.

In a space that feels chaotic, exposed, or unpredictable, its hard to settle. The nervous system may continue staying on guard scanning for signs that it needs to stay alert.

Noise.
Harsh lighting.
Conversations that can be overheard. 
Hallways that leave people unsure where to go. 
A room that feels cold or impersonal.

But when those same details are designed with intention, the experience can begin to shift.

Rooms that stay quiet.
Light that feels gentle.
Privacy that’s protected.
A path that’s clear.
A space that feels considered and warm. 

These cues can support a greater sense of safety and ease, giving patients more space to be present for the care they came to receive.

This is why we think beyond how a healthcare environment looks.
We think about what the body may be experiencing within it.

The environment is already communicating with your patients and there’s a great opportunity to be intentional about what it says.

A philosophy of care becomes most visible in the decisions patients never consciously notice.

If you believe privacy is part of care, that belief shapes how sound travels between rooms, how far apart patients sit, and whether a conversation at reception can be overheard.

If you believe every patient deserves care that feels personal, it influences where a door opens, how a chair is positioned, and whether someone waits facing a hallway or a window. 

These seem like small design decisions.
But together, they communicate something much bigger:

“We thought about you before you ever walked through the door.”

That’s what it looks like when your philosophy of care becomes something patients can actually experience.
