Your head shouldn’t feel this heavy at the end of your workday.

But think about what you’re asking your body to do.

You sit at a computer for 8 hours a day.
5 days a week.
Week after week.
Year after year.

Your eyes stay on the screen.

Your head gradually drifts forward.

Your shoulders begin to round.

And the muscles in your neck, shoulders and upper back spend thousands of hours working to hold you there.

So by the time you get home, your head feels heavy.

Your neck feels tired.

There’s that deep ache between your shoulder blades.

You find yourself rubbing the base of your skull, rolling your shoulders or stretching your neck. You’re trying to get a few seconds of relief.

Here at Body Remedies, I specialize in neck and back pain relief. This means I regularly target those chronically tight muscles in your neck and back to help restore your mobility and help manage your pain.

Because if your body has spent years developing these patterns, one massage may feel incredible but consistent therapeutic work is where we start changing the pattern.

Body Remedies is on the Westend. We’re open on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am-3:30pm. Send me a message if you’d like to get started.

Warmly,

Rashonda

One gal came to me because she was tired of living around her headaches.

When I first started working with her a few months ago, tension headaches had become a regular part of her life.

And when tension has been building in the body for years, I don’t expect one massage to undo all of it.

But after her first session, something changed.

She went about a week and a half without a headache.

So we kept going. We kept building momentum instead of starting from scratch every couple months.

Every other week, we worked on the tension her body had been holding onto. Her tightness was mostly found through her neck, shoulders and upper body that kept contributing to that familiar pressure.

By her second massage, she wasn’t experiencing the headaches anymore.

But we didn’t stop just because she felt better.

That’s the part I think is so important.

We gave her body time to stop returning to the same old pattern.

Eventually, we were able to move from every-other-week appointments to once-a-month maintenance.

And now?

Her entire massage doesn’t have to revolve around trying to get her headache under control.

If I find that familiar tension creeping back in, we can spend a little extra time there but then I get to work on the rest of her body. I get to help her relieve tension throughout her calves and hamstrings and hips etc.

We went from chasing a problem to maintaining the progress. It’s easy to fall out of habits and forget to stretch and forget to exercise because life is so so busy and who likes adding more things to their plate anyways?

But every month she schedules dedicated time for her maintenance and she gets to manage her headaches without medications and injections by coming in for her therapeutic massage.

Someone said, “the eyes are the window to the soul”. Look at my eyes in this picture. They look like somebody dimmed my light.

I remember lying in bed, completely exhausted, praying that sleep would come.

Some nights it didn’t.

My heart would race. My mind would spin. My shoulders, jaw, and chest were so tight that even resting felt impossible.

What I didn’t understand then was that post-traumatic stress doesn’t just live in the mind. It lives in the body, too. Years of abuse I experienced needed to be soothed in my nervous system.

The danger was gone, but my body was trapped in protection mode.

It took years to teach my nervous system that it was safe to rest.

I walked for miles. I sang. I prayed. I danced. I learned how to breathe deeply from my belly again. I no longer had shallow breaths that felt like they stopped right at my chest. And massage therapy became one of the tools that helped me find my way back to myself.

That’s why the work I do means so much to me.

When someone walks into my office and tells me they haven’t slept well in months, that their jaw hurts from clenching, that their shoulders ache constantly, or that they feel anxious all the time, I understand.

Not because I read it in a textbook.

Because I lived it.

Though I will put my best foot forward at making you feel like an MVP, this work isn’t about candles, cucumber water, or a luxury experience.

It’s about helping people feel like themselves again.

It’s about teaching the body that it doesn’t have to fight anymore.

If you’ve been carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, you don’t have to carry it alone.

If you’re ready to begins a massage therapy journey with me to help you get back to breathing deeply, moving freely, and finally letting go, give me a call. I’d love to chat with you.❤️

She came back for a second chair massage on the very same day.

Her words?

“The best massage I’ve ever had.”

She told me that she likes a massage that actually does the work she needs done to address the problem.

I explained that I will do a massage simply for relaxation every now and then, but what I love most is seeing a transformation in the body’s I work on.

I want to see someone who couldn’t turn their head finally look over their shoulder while driving without pain.

I want to see the pulling, catching, aching, and stiffness start to fade.

Working a persons soft tissues with a results driven approach has a ripple effect and improves so much more than just their body, it improves the way they experience life. It may take a some focused time and some reoccurring investment but the transformation is such a treat to enjoy.

If you’re somebody who’s ready for some changes, I’ll attach my link in the bio for your in home or in clinic massages. Let’s get to work!

Your Swing Doesn’t Start in Your Hands

How much have you spent trying to improve your golf game?

❌New driver
❌Lessons
❌Range balls
❌Membership

You’ve done so many things right but if your hips barely rotate, your performance won’t be what it could be.

One of the biggest things I find in golfers is hip stiffness. And when your hips stop rotating, your lower back starts twisting more than it should.

You want to be pain free after golfing.

You want to play golf with more power.

You want the one side that’s always tight to be free.

You want to gain distance on the course.

Massage can provide the work you need, because massage is about restoring movement so your body isn’t fighting itself every swing.

If your hips feel tight after 18 holes, your muscles are ready for maintenance.

Message me if you’d like to move better before your next round. In clinic massages are available on the Westend or I can come to you.

Golf is the only sport where your body works one direction for 18 holes, three times a week. When’s the last time you did anything to undo that?

When you’ve got a hitch in your back swing because your hips are too tight it’s time for for some maintenance.

Loosing up before tee time to increase the power of your swing is better giving you more distance in 10x better than letting a tight hip take you off the course for 6 weeks.

In clinic massages are available or I can come to you. Send me a message if you’d like. Booking link in comments.
