What an incredible day with the Boys & Girls Club of Bay St. Louis! 🚴♂️☀️
From 10 AM to 2 PM, the boys and girls club hosted their annual Spring Break Bicycle Rodeo, welcoming groups of children—ranging from just 5 years old to preteens—for hands-on sessions focused on bike safety, basic maintenance, and proper helmet fitting. Each group spent about an hour and a half learning essential cycling skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Thanks to generosity and teamwork, this event was a huge success. The Bay Rollers provided helmets, the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club supplied bike tools, and Tri-Hard Sports contributed additional gear and free repairs. The volunteers helped each child get their helmet on properly and made adjustments to the bikes as needed.
After the safety demonstrations, the excitement really took off! With a road safely closed to traffic and supervised by Boys & Girls Club staff and the Bay St. Louis Police Department, the kids had the freedom to ride, practice, and enjoy the thrill of cycling in a safe space.
This annual event is a true highlight of Spring Break for these kids and it brings smiles, confidence, and joy to so many young riders. We’re already looking forward to next year—and we’d love even more helping hands to make it even bigger and better!
A very special thank you to Myron Labat, Heather Fetter, and Patrick O’Connor of the Bay Rollers, who have been supporting this for years. Beth Abadie of the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club, and David Lalejini (in both clubs) were also there. Thanks to all volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to support such a meaningful event.
Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more joyful cycling community—one child at a time. 💙🚲
Please keep this club in mind when you have bike your child has outgrown, that needs a new home.
