STIC's TRAID Program offers access to assistive technology and adaptive equipment that can help individuals live more independently.

From communication devices and adaptive tools to mobility equipment and daily living aids, assistive technology can make a world of difference for people with disabilities and those recovering from an injury, illness, or medical procedure.

✨ Our Loan Closet Inventory is now live online!

Our vibrant TRAID Program and Loan Closet features an array of equipment, from simple, homemade devices to state-of-the-art technology. Available to borrow at no cost.

⭐ Anyone who lives in our five-county region (Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Tioga Counties) is eligible for TRAID services.

✅ No prescription, referral, payment, or documentation is required to borrow equipment from our Loan Closet.

Equipment in this category supports mobility, transfers, and everyday independence for individuals with physical or mobility challenges. These devices help users safely move, stand, and perform daily activities at home or in the community.

Broome County is set to expand its transit reach with a state grant for a new microtransit service aimed at areas beyond the county’s existing bus network. Statewide awards, distributed through the Innovative Mobility Initiative, are intended to help non-MTA transit authorities create new service options and technology that support riders who face barriers to using traditional fixed-route transit. The program was first announced in her 2023 State of the State address and is being administered by the New York State Department of Transportation.
