Preparing Yourself for Cesarean (C-Section)

I often hear women who have had cesareans speak on the trauma they experienced. Let’s discuss things you need to know! There are many different MEDICAL REASONS (probably wondering why I put that in caps let’s talk facts and not conveniency) that a cesarean might be a factor!

🩺Breech
🥼Arrested Labor
🩺Prolapsed Cord
🥼Hemorrhage
🩺Uterine Inertia
🥼Fetal Distress
🩺Genital Herpes
🥼Serious Health Issues

There are many more factors and thats why it’s important to discuss these things with your doctor. If the doctor is scheduling a plan cesarean ask why. Don’t be afraid to ask why if there aren’t any medical issues. Always remember the provider WORKS FOR YOU!!

You might feel frightened as you enter the operating room and that totally normal. Having the right birth team is very important
•Your nurse will start fluids and check your blood pressure frequently
•The anesthesiologist will come in to start the anesthesia that is best for you🥳
•Your nurse will give you oxygen and place pulse odometer on your finger
•A catheter is placed in the bladder
•A drape will be placed so that your abdomen can be seen
•The incision is made with a scalpel

•Amniotic fluid is suction out

Hiring a postpartum doula is very important in this time of the healing process. After a cesarean the laboring person might be exhausted. Pain from your incision from your stitches are very common. You will need the help during this recovery process. Avoiding gas producing foods are very important at this point. Healthy mommy means healthy baby. You & your partner will need rest.

MYTH: you can’t have a vaginal birth after cesarean!!
This is called a (vaginal birth after cesarean)

Back in January of 2021 I met who educated me more on (a surrogate who carries for another couple). Being a surrogate is something I always wanted to do.

my doula service business is named after my mother (Karen) who was never able to carry children of her own. My mom dealt with miss carrying more than one child. I remember my mom being on her death bed back in 90s due to complications. My mom also had a hysterectomy (removal of all parts of the uterus). To see her go through this type of trauma I knew one day I wanted to adopt or be a surrogate.

What is a gestational surrogate? A woman who carries a fetus through pregnancy. A woman who gives birth for another woman or couple. The gestational surrogate doesn’t have any type of biological relation to the child.

Let me guess you are wondering how? Lol 😂

IVF: IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
Assisted reproduction where a man’s s***m and a woman’s eggs are combined outside of the body.
Next would be placing the embryo into the uterus of the GS.

Back in November I started doing my paperwork and everyone around me was looking at me crazy. I remember faxing over the documentation over to my previous office and the medical receptionist asking me, “are you sure you want to do this?” Let’s just say we always hear scary stories but nobody knows your purpose!!

I start the year walking in purpose and trying to help someone who did all they could!!
