One thing we love at The EF: bowling. 🎳 We go on nearly 350 field trips every year, but the bowling alley remains a weekly staple!

The Exceptional Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of our former President and CEO, Tricia Kirk. Tricia dedicated her life to serving individuals with disabilities, making a lasting impact through her work at The Exceptional Foundation, and throughout her career. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will be remembered by many here, including participants and their families, staff, and other friends of the organization. ❤️

Tricia’s legacy will live on through the Tricia Kirk Legacy Award, established last year in her honor. As its first recipient, Tricia embodied what the award represents: a lifelong commitment to creating meaningful opportunities and building a more inclusive community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In the years to come, the award will recognize others who share her passion and dedication to this work.

Information about arrangements for Tricia will be communicated as they become available. Your thoughts and prayers for the Kirk family are appreciated at this time.

Our adult program is back in session! We’re kicking things off with Unified Pickleball Club, where teams consist of one TEF participant and one Unified partner. 🏓We are so excited to be back!

That's a wrap on Summer Camp 2026 🍉 We had the best summer! From pool days and splash pad trips to karaoke, community vendors, field trips, and more, this summer was filled with so much fun. We are so grateful for our incredible youth participants that spend their summer break with us! 💙

Meet Ed! 💙

Ed has been at the EF since 2017. Whether he's competing with our Special Olympics teams, dressing up for prom, or counting down the days until our annual beach trip to Gulf Shores, Ed brings joy wherever he goes.

Over the years, The EF has become a place where Ed has built confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships. The staff and participants at the EF have become his friends.

Ed's mom shared:

"The Exceptional Foundation gives Ed and so many others the opportunity to shine. What a beautiful community Ed has found at The EF. Exceptionalities are welcome, encouraged, and nourished. He and his family are eternally grateful for the experiences and relationships that make his world so much brighter."

❤️ Red Group Spotlight! ❤️

Last summer, we expanded our Summer Camp by opening a satellite location so we could welcome even more campers. This is Red Group's second summer there!

They've loved having a space of their own while still getting to enjoy the same field trips, daily activities, friendships, and all the fun that comes with summer camp. We can't wait for the rest of summer with Red Group! ☀️😎
