Mitchell's Place, Inc. We strive to unlock the potential of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Note: Translator and translated documents are available upon request.

Mitchell’s Place provides an array of outcome-based, early intervention programs specifically designed to enable children with autism to reach their highest potential before transitioning to a public-school setting. The Early Learning Preschool (ELP) is an Accredited program and consists of four classrooms serving children ages two to six. Operating year round, it is an inclusive program serving both children with autism and an equal number of typically developing peers. Teach Me is another early intervention program involving an intense individualized curriculum for children with autism who have extensive needs in a one-on-one setting. A third educational offering at Mitchell’s Place is the After-School Social Groups that teach children how to socially interact in a group setting. In this program, children ages six to ten learn social, recreational and life skills. Additionally, Mitchell’s Place offers Psychology, Psychiatry, Speech, Occupational, and Feeding Therapy; as well as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services in an outpatient model. It’s Worker Wednesday, and this week we’re spotlighting Payton! Payton joined the Mitchell’s Place family in April 2026 as a Speech Therapist! Her favorite part of her job is using AAC during speech sessions to help our kiddos communicate. Fun fact: When she was little, she wanted to be a mermaid! 🧜‍♀️ Outside of work, she loves UGA football, her dog, and pure barre!

It’s Teachable Tuesday! ✏️🚗✈️ Our Songbirds have been busy learning all about transportation through fun, hands-on activities! From designing their own roads and identifying different places in their communities to exploring airplanes during storytime, our kiddos have been putting their creativity and imaginations to work!

They also practiced important skills like following multi-step directions, identifying beginning letter sounds, making independent choices, and taking turns with friends. Through interactive activities like washing toy cars and transportation-themed literacy exercises, our Songbirds are building problem-solving, language, fine motor, and social skills while having fun! We love watching our Songbirds learn and grow!

It’s Miracle Monday, and we’re celebrating Audrey! Audrey has been working hard and making amazing progress in speech therapy! She is on track to meet her goal of answering “who” questions and has been having so much fun learning through pretend play!

Recently, Audrey has enjoyed playing in the kitchen and even pretending to be the teacher! Through these activities, she has been practicing important skills like turn-taking, initiating interactions, and building her language skills in a fun and natural way.

We’re so proud of Audrey and all the hard work she continues to put into learning and growing! Keep up the great work, Audrey!
