If cold drinks have started to hurt and they never used to, there’s a specific reason.
Healthy enamel doesn’t feel cold at all. The sensitivity comes from the layer underneath it, which gets exposed when enamel wears down, gums recede, or a tooth chips. Because those changes are gradual, the sensitivity usually builds up slowly instead of showing up all at once.
Avoiding cold drinks just works around the problem. Mention it at your next visit so we can find out what changed.
