Take yourself to the River!✨🌊

Humans have sought rivers to heal for as long as we’ve been human. Moving water releases negative ions which are nature’s mood-regulating molecules that lift serotonin, calm the nervous system, and clear the mind. ✨🌊

The river isn’t just beautiful. It’s medicine. ✨🌊

Science: A study published in “Nature”showed that people who spent time near lakes, rivers, and oceans reported decreased stress, a boost in mood, and an overall sense of wellbeing. Research from the NIH also found that people who live near rivers or coastal areas experience lower levels of anxiety, depression, and overall mental distress compared to those in urban environments. Simply being near water can lower heart rate, decrease anxiety, and support emotional regulation. The mechanism is neurochemical: the mere sight and sound of water can induce a flood of neurochemicals that promote wellness, increase blood flow to the brain and heart, and induce relaxation.✨🌊 🌕🌲

I woke up feeling soft and quiet this morning after several days of processing and overthinking. I feel immense gratitude for the pleasures in my life. The ones like these. 🌸🌕 Today I am holding so much love for the ancestors, my teachers (both human and more than human), my commUNiTY, and my little family (chosen and birthed). Thank you for this day and this life. May my life be an altar of truth, light, courage, and love. 🙇🏻‍♀️🌲🙇🏻‍♀️🌕 (Tagging a few of my ceremonial siSTARS to spread the love today) 🌕🌲

When a caterpillar enters the chrysalis stage, the body begins to break down and old systems collapse. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a new cell emerges. We call them Imaginal cells. The old cells detect the new cells as foreign and dangerous and they attack. The friction causes the Imaginal cells to multiply and eventually they out number the old cells and thus the butterfly is born. 🦋✨🦋

This is a map of transformation, not just for caterpillars, but for humans as well. It is at the foundation of every thing I have learned and feel inspired to share. 🦋✨🦋

Yoga is a tool for nervous system regulation by calming the body and mind. One unique way I have found to use this system is to practice yoga with the intention of releasing our habit of over thinking and rumination. .dailey and I speak about the state of the world, feel the emotions and tensions that come up, and consistently check in with the breath. At the end of our practice, we pray for the things we are concerned about and offer our efforts of internal peace to our species. It’s been a life saving practice. Try it!

One way I’ve learned to love mySELF and increase my confidence and general happiness, is to only make promises that I know I can keep. This begins with the ones I make to myself. Whether it is a personal goal or a request from another, I take the time to evaluate my true feelings. This means I have to release the illusion that I can do anything and everything, all the time. The more I follow through with my promises, the more confidence and self love I cultivate. When I can do that for myself, then I only allow others in my life who can do the same. Accountability is a true flex. 💪🏽 So grateful for this hard earned wisdom. 🌕🌲
