⚡ WHAT IF ONE SMALL TOOL COULD HELP TURN DOWN THE VOLUME ON SORE, ACHY MUSCLES?
That is one of the reasons I added a wireless TENS unit to my growing toolbox at Heather’s Balancing Touch. 💗
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.
It uses small adhesive pads placed on the skin to send gentle, low-voltage electrical pulses through the area being treated.
So what does that actually mean for you?
TENS may help provide temporary relief from certain types of muscle and joint discomfort, including things like sore muscles, back discomfort, arthritis-related pain, and those stubborn areas that just feel tight and irritated.
🌿 HOW DOES IT WORK?
One explanation is called Gate Control Theory.
Pain signals travel through your nervous system to your brain. The gentle tingling sensation from TENS may interfere with some of those signals, almost like temporarily turning down the volume on what your brain is receiving.
TENS may also support the release of endorphins, which are chemicals your body naturally produces that can help reduce the perception of discomfort.
It is important to know that TENS does not “fix” the underlying cause of pain, and it is not a replacement for medical care.
It is simply another tool that may help you feel more comfortable. ⚡
And that is exactly why I keep learning, investing, and adding new options.
Because no two bodies are the same.
Some sessions may call for therapeutic massage.
Some may include hot bamboo.
Sometimes cupping may be appropriate.
And for some clients, TENS may be another option we can consider.
The best part?
You do NOT have to walk into my office knowing exactly what technique you need.
That’s part of what I’m here for. 💗
Tell me what has been bothering you.
Tell me where you feel tight, sore, tired, or uncomfortable.
Tell me what you want to get out of your session.
Then we can talk through the options together and create a session around YOUR needs.
TENS is not appropriate for everyone, so it will only be considered when it is safe and appropriate for the individual client.
🌿 Your session should never feel one-size-fits-all.
It should feel like someone actually listened to what your body was asking for.
